Shortages of EVO 95% venison anyone??

I noticed my local store has been out of this for 2-3 weeks now...the lady seemed to hint that they were having problems getting it but she also said she didn't know much about it. Just curious if anyone else has seen shortages of it?

Yes. There is a shortage of ALL canned venison. According to my individually owned pet store owner, Iams bought up all the venison supply for two years. He was told that by his Wellness supplier. So the only EVO venison he has on his shelf is all he can get. He said the supplier did not know WHY it had been bought out by Iams - esp since I don't think Iams even makes a venison-ingredient canned food.
The EVO 95% venison food is esp good for diabetic kitties . . . so this will be tough.
I suspect it will also effect Natural Balance, Pet Guard and all the other Venison ingredient canned foods quite soon.

When I was looking for Instinct Venison canned, the owner of one of the feed stores I frequent mentioned to me a few weeks ago that prices on venison foods would be going up due to a venison shortage, but she didn't know why there was a shortage.

Today at Petco, they had samples of Eukanuba's 3 new Naturally Wild dry dog foods. One contains New Zealand venison. Could that possibly be why they supposedly bought it up? Huh

I finally got through to EVO and they confirmed a shortage with no known date when it will be back in stock....I'm a moderator on a feline IBD forum and this is HUGE...so many of our cats eat this.

My sil hasn't been able to get the Natural Balance canned canine venison for weeks. No explanation offered at 4 stores.

Well, I just ordered two cases of the EVO venison from Only Natural - it did not say it was out of stock like the Ziwipeak lamb I also tried to order. I have two cases at home too....but nothing like a shortage of food to send a scare down the spine of any IBD cat meowmie. Bo was sick three times in 2007, plus exploratory surgery in December. Wilson has been eating it too...don't want to run out.

What a rotten thing for them to do if it's true. This forces everyone needing to feed their pets venison food to use their line. Guess that's the point. How on earth could anyone buy all the venison for years? Wow.

And my husband doesn't understand why our basement looks like a pet food store..............

Well, I just received two cases of EVO venison from Only Natural so they still have it in stock.

While I was at it I ordered some Ziwipeak venison although I still had almost two months worth...I had ordered two cases, but they only had one left in stock. Both the Ziwipeak venison and lamb or out at Only Natural and they indicate they don't know when it will be back in stock. I didn't call the company for this one to check.
