I have been using Canidae and Evangers to feed my two minpins.  I am happy with both of them.
I have a friend that I told her to be careful what she is feeding her two cats.  She decided on Pet Promise.  Does anyone know anything about this food?   Please let me know so I can inform her if this is not good.  Thanks.

I studied the website and decided to try Petpromise.  As easily available foods go, it is preferable in quality to some of the others.  It is available at Whole Foods markets at a reasonable price. Also available at Petfooddirect.com.  My older outside cat, Ollie, loves the canned chicken flavor.  Bless his heart, he hasn't given me much trouble with all my experimenting. The only canned he hated was Felidae.  My younger indoor cat, Ripley, won't touch Petpromise with a stick.  She won't eat anything with a ground, loaf style texture.  She's a Fancy Feast fiend.  Still working on that!
As for Petpromise dry, Ollie likes it.  I would definitely buy more Petpromise for Ollie, although I am still experimenting a bit.  Would like to find one canned and one dry that both cats enjoy.

I feed my cats pet promise canned when I run out of their regular foods.  To me, the chicken actually smells like "canned chicken" and rice, not cat food.  I've studied their site and talked to them several times.

They are a Purina company, but have their own philosphy.  They actually name some of their meat and poultry suppliers (something I have not seen any other companies do).  I hadn't visited their site in awhile.  They now have a statement saying they use chickens raised on U.S. Family Farms that are fed on strict vegetarian diets, and are not fed any leftover pet foods.

If you call them, they will send you samples.  It takes awhile, as they are obviously swamped with requests.

I started using Pet Promise, mostly the Chicken formula, for my cats.  Hoping to get them off of FF some day.  Most of my (13, oops did I say 13) like it, some prefer FF still.  I communicated with them a few times re: the source of their ingredients and I did find that they were willing to answer my questions.  My last email re: the chickens that had been fed tainted feed, brought a reply from Nestle Purina and the standard quote that is up on their website.  Pet Promise is somehow a "division" of Purina.

Was buying Pet Promise but took what I had back as it contains rice and do not know if that rice in it has been genetically modified (franken food) so did not want to take a chance that down the road some day she became ill and would not even think it could be the rice. Also I thought that someone had posted it had synthetic vitaman k in it? That might not be correct on this food so do your own checking. On saynotogmos.org they have a list of genetically modified foods/etc.

JJ is on a mission.  Say No to GMO's obviously has an agenda for Organics (not that I'm opposed - but there is no scientific proof to the claims).  I believe in taking some time off here (which I do - one can't keep up the stress forever - its unhealthy after 3 months).

Pet Promise does use menadione (so I won't buy it).  But I eat rice, and unless going grain free (which is not good for indoor kitties - due to phosphorous, fiber levels) one is stuck with that frightening RICE.

I eat rice, and I will continue to eat rice (AND DANG - I'M NOT CALLING EVERY COMPANY, RESTAURANT I EAT AT TO MAKE SURE ITS NOT GMO).  If I can eat it, the kitties can eat it (and since I've got a 14 year old kitty fed GWAINY CWAP for many years - and she's still thriving - I FEEL PRETTY DANG GOOD ABOUT MY CHOICES).

FRANKEN FOOD?  Start a book.

Do not need a book - look at the early development of our younger girls. Some have breasts at 8 yrs of age! But I suppose this has nothing whatsoever to do with the food they eat and are eating filled with all the hormones that are in the milk, eggs, etc. And young boys not maturing like they should? No one would publish a book like this cause they would just deny it is even happening. Like a lot of people would rather not know than do anything about it so they end up with all kinds of maladies that would not be if they had more knowledge about what they eat and the amount of chemicals in the products they use that are endocrine disrupters.

While I don't doubt you on that - I haven't seen any girls that way myself.  Started thinking Organic today, but web search puts it way out of my budget (then read on here where folks even then have to watch out for the addition of glutens).  Unable to can, no storage - oh well, just have to stick with the regular diet.
