Anyone currently or recently using NV Instinct Rabbit kibble? Comments? I just picked up a bag to try as an alternate for the new cat and maybe the kittens if they don't like wet.

The new cat was the only one to have it, and he wasn't crazy about it like he likes CORE. But, he's only getting a small portion of kibble.

Is it still only the rabbit raw that is coming from China?

I think all their rabbit supply comes from China for the raw, kibble and canned. They couldn't find a big enough supply here so they ended up going with China. The rabbit facility is supposed to be carefully monitored by NV people to ensure a safe clean supply of meat: http://www.naturesvariety.com/questions/5"Do you source from China? We are currently sourcing rabbit meat from a supplier in China. In order to insure the quality of these suppliers, members of our management team have personally visited and audited the facilities. Nature's Variety also has a full-time employee in China who visits the facility regularly and monitors meat quality. In addition, samples from shipments received from this supplier are submitted to an independent lab in the United States for testing. All results of testing and auditing have matching our specifications for quality and nutrition.

My cats no longer like the rabbit canned. They used to devour it up until the big cans (dog food) with the expiration date of 031010. I ordered 5 cases of it, now I'm stuck with stuff they don't like.
They no longer care for the big cans of Wellness that expire in 2011. However, they like the 5.5 (usa) and 3 ounce cans (canada).

JustMe, I am having the same problem that you are with my group. They are not thrilled at all with the big Wellness cans.
I just got 3 cases of NV Rabbit (dog) delivered today and no enthusiasm at all. I am very disappointed to find out that the rabbit is from China.

I think it is just the raw that is from China, at least that is what I was told at one time. That's interesting though, Peg. So your cats aren't enthused either with the rabbit or Wellness big cans At least I can give the rabbit to my dogs. They like it. Mine recently liked Instinct Chicken 5.5 ounce cans of cat food best by 05/11/10, 12.5 ounce cans of Wellness Beef and Chicken best by 05 MAR 11. Turkey big cans (11 FEB 11) are many paws down. Goopy, whipped, light consistency. Tonight I gave them all a late night snack of 5.5 ounce cans of Wellness chicken and turkey, they all devoured it. Elvis was like jaws with it, couldn't eat it fast enough. I've got a lot of older Wellness formulas 12.5 ounce cans, so I may try some of those this week plus the newer 5.5 ounce cans to see what they think.

Interestingly, my cats don't care much for the canned Instinct rabbit any more, either, except for one. It used to be a big hit with everyone. Then a couple of months ago, they started eating less and less of it. I did not buy any for awhile, figuring they were tired of it. This morning I fed the first can in over a month. Only that same cat ate it. (I use the 5.5 oz cat cans.) I wonder if there has been some type of change in formula?

Well, I have a cat that was diagnosed with IBD and pancreatitis in 2004. Up til this food it always seemed like the IBD had the upper hand when he had a flare up....so any pancreatitis was very mild. But I started to slowly introduce this kibble and just after I increased the quantity he had his first pancreatitis attack. No vomiting, but lethergy and lack of appetite. At the vets he had very high triglycerides. We put him on ursodiol and he is fine now, but I stopped using this food.
I'm sure it is a unique circumstance, but figured it was still worth sharing.

I can't use the kibble anyway. I gave it to my new cat once and he had a loose bowel movement. It may have been a coincidence, but I can't take a chance with 11 cats. I had bought kibble to give the kittens until I could get them on wet food. Besides, after reading about waskly wabbit all week, I feel guilty

Wow, a loose BM with Instinct kibble? The chicken version gave some of my cats rock-hard stools. It was the worst constipating food I had ever fed them.

It was only fed one day, so I don't know if it was a coincidence or not. BJ did like it. He likes just about everything.
