Carol,

You're welcome Grin.

I left quite a few paw prints on the WWW last week.  Thanks to 3Cat for letting us know that Don's info was noticed.

Carol, Im hoping Lisa is doing some more research, investigating, etc and that she will post another article soon about those tst results and perhaps she has been in contact with that vet who suspected the food was responsible for the death of the that German Shepherd.  I would still like to know too what is the cause of all those Nutro employee layoffs at City of Industry, if its not an office or plant closure....I cant find anything more about it on the internet thingy at all.

P.S.  Thanks Homer!  LOL  How did you come up with that name?  LOL  I guess at least it wasnt Gomer Pyle .... Grin

Carol, that's great.

The more places we all can find to post pfpsa's info, the better.

Hi I have been conducting my own research on the Nutro food debate and posted the findings on my web blog (http://www.securepet.biz/wordpress/2008/08/nutro-food-update/). I received a response from a person who belonged to this forum and began visiting as often as I could as a guest.

Since my initial posting I have been contacted by two people who have been affected by Nutro. One, has three small dogs that died. She worked as a nutritionist for Nutro food for 4 years. The other has two toy poodles who became violently ill. They were on Nutro for 11 years without any problems.

I have a question for you folks, does anyone know of a dog who was on Nutro that ended up dying from seizures? My own dog, a 13 year-old healthy Australian Shepherd was doing really well until I purchased a new big bag of Nutro Ultra. (I mixed the new food with the left-over Nutro senior). She acted oddly and about 2 months before her seizures I could tell that she was really not doing well: lots of bouts with loose stools, vomiting up bile, and basically just sleeping and uninterested in her surroundings.

SecurePet,  welcome to Itchmo, unfortunately under circumstances connected to pet food.  I couldnt tell for sure by the info in your post, is your dog OK now?  I hope so.  I remember reading at Consumer Affairs website  people saying their dog had seizures.  I dont know if you've gone thru those complaints but it is here that you can look:  http://www.consumeraffairs.com/pets/nutro.html  I hope this helps some and again, welcome to Itchmo.

SecurePet welcome to Itchmo. Have you switched foods since your dog showed symptoms and had seizures? Glad you found us and the information to help your baby.

I have left a couple messages on consumeraffairs.com.  I lost my chi/papillon to pancreatitis and mitral valve prolapse, a pom to mitral valve, both in June, another lh chi in July to mitral valve prolapse and adrenal insufficiency.  My last pom is losing the battle to mitral valve and bladder crystals.  Just last week, my 2 year old yellow lab was also diagnosed with heart problems and pancreatitis.  I took him to a specialist, who hadn't seen the other 4 dogs, and sure enough, the lab results and tests came back positive for the exact same thing the others had.  He is 2, has lost 25 lbs, the pigment in his ears and belly has turned black and the vet says he "looks like an old man".  He is dying.

I was feeding him Nutro Max large breed puppy and large breed adult (purple) bag, Nutro cans, treats and biscuits.  The others were eating Nutro Natural Choice Senior, (silver bag), cans, treats and biscuits.

My husband, daughter, grandson and I have all had physicals and we are fine.  We have had the cats checked and they are fine.  We have also had our birds checked and they are fine.  We have had our home checked for mold, bacteria, carbon monoxide and it has all come back ok.

The only common denominator was Nutro.

Interesting enough, zinc poisoning can cause mitral valve prolapse, pancreatitis and pancreas valve necrosis, weight loss, adrenal insufficiency and bladder crystals.

Also, Lisa McCormick's latest story, M&M Mars products; Snickers and M&M's from China tested positive for melamine.   HHHMMM?Huh

I had started a new post on this and then took it down. If you go to http://www.recalls.org/vet08.html
you will see in May 08 they have posted the recall for  diamond products Nutro Nuggets Lamb meal and rice formula. Resaon for recall melamine. As Menusux so graciously pointed out this could mean they are trying to still recall this product as they may not have gotten all of it back. The product codes and lot numbers are posted on the web site. They are also posted on the fds site for the 07 recalls.

yl,
The website you posted is coming up as "Not Found".  Are you saying that the codes and dates are the same ones posted for the 07 recalls?  If so, then if they posted that info, it should have been made clear that it was not a new recall.  Maybe that is why they took the site down because they found people were confused.   Huh
