call your FDA complaint coordiator  http://www.fda.gov/opacom/backgrounders/complain.Html

Don't take them back   FDA will let you know what to do!  They may want them!

I called and reached voicemail. Left a message and lets see if they will return my call.

Keep calling if they don't call you back...the squeaky wheel gets the oil!!  This may not be just these two cans so think of it as possibly getting the word out to a potential problem...someone else may have not noticed it...or may feed it....It is very worth the effort!!! Wink

The question now is how many metric tons of this product batch are sitting in warehouses and on shelves around the globe?

I've never opened a can of premium grade cat food and seen something that bad before in my lifetime.

I just opened my 3 cans that I bought to try for my cats.
I too have the same mold problems as tuttibella.

The 3 cans of Venison and Green Pea appear to be okay.

I will be contacting the FDA.

This is beyond disgusting

Have they changed cannery or are they still using American Nutrition

       Article from 2007

"acoima, CA -- April 27, 2007 -- Because of the pet food recall initiated today by American Nutrition Inc., Natural Balance Pet Foods has announced it is issuing a nationwide recall of a number of canned products manufactured by American Nutrition. This action is limited to four specific Natural Balance canned formulas: Chicken Canned Dog Formula 13 oz , Beef Canned Dog Formula 13 oz, Lamb Canned Dog Formula 13 oz, and the 3oz and 6 oz Ocean Fish Canned Cat Formulas."

No one knows. Natural Balance, American Nutrition and Menu Foods are still listed as active Members of one lobby group we are all familiar with I tend to suspect much production is still kept within the "circle".

Thanks again, Kathy!  I corrected my post.  Actually, who knows if that has changed or not since 2007.

Peg, please list your can codes when you get a chance so I can add them to the list.  Thanks.

I just spoke with a rep at NB and she wants a picture..  While still on the phone I opened also fish and sweet potato with same bb date and had similar black spot(s)...my son thinks they do not look like mold like this first poster has posted however and I have never bought this food prior so I don't know if this is part of the food...Will play it safe and not use it and I'll post pix here when they are uploaded... Undecided

Peg...are able to post a pix of yours too?

Don't want to make a mountain out of molehill but also don't want to make molehill out of a mountain...if you know what I mean...At least NB knows some of us have concerns....

I hate this... Lips sealed

A rep from NB gave me a call a while ago and I am glad that they are taking this seriously and will look into the problem. Will be in touch with them and should know more by Monday. She happen to also visit this forum so she got the pics from here. I would suggest that anyone with the same problem post their pics up or email it to NB.

I wonder if NB could compensate me for the heart attack I think I might have had when I looked at those two pics?

What is this stuff? Black Mold, Oil? Plant machinery gaskets that melted down unnoticed? Who canned it?

Is this a Menu job? Something needs to change.

NBDGP  06:51
March 04 12
3 oz cans

I am unable to post a picture.

Pugsley ate some of this while I walked away from the opened cans.
He proceeded to throw up all over the house.

Lord help me........

And him.  What are the consequences of eating potentially moldy food?

No vet until Monday..............
