Chami was having really bad diarrhea for a week and a half, so for a week she had probiotics but it didn't help.  (She started having problems before I started introductions to Sunday.)

The only recent diet change was that, to my delight, she was eating a lot more Wellness canned with the lighter label  (that is also new for us over here in Japan).

Due to the diarrhea, I started giving Chami much less Wellness canned (and more dry food which she generally prefers),... and she finally made a good poop, so luckily I didn't have to take her to the vet to get checked out.  All was fine for a week and then...

Last night she had a tbsp of Wellness canned again (a good portion for her), and this morning I woke to diarrhea.

My 2 other Larges eating Wellness aren't having any issues.

Anyone else have this kind of trouble?

August, which flavor of Wellness? Depending on the flavor, maybe its too rich for Chami?

Three of my cats eat Wellness pretty much daily, and they have had no problems.

Perhaps Chami has developed a sensitivity to something in the Wellness?

I too am wondering what flavors you are serving.  We use turkey, chicken & herring, and turkey & salmon mostly in 3oz cans but with some 5.5 oz cans.

Before the label changed, Chami's favorite was Turkey.  Now, not so much.

Chami has been eating Chicken, Chicken & Herring, and Turkey & Salmon, all in the 3 oz cans.

August, maybe you could try feeding just one flavor for a few days to see if the diarrhea gets better and if it does, then keep adding each flavor back in every few days to see how things go.  You might be able to pinpoint one of the flavos being more the culprit....I would wonder if the chicken and herring might be too rich for her, if she isnt used to eating it before?

Feed the same flavor more than once in a row?  To my Larges?  I wish!  LOL  They are far too regal for that and would never allow for it.   Smiley

Chami's 2 favorite flavors before the label change were Turkey, and Chicken & Herring, so she's used to that flavor......but she had Chicken & Herring last night and this morning had diarrhea.   Tongue

Those are some of the flavors I use when I use Wellness cans. I've had trouble with all 3 with Oreo, but not consistantly. Marsha just had the same problem with ch & herring & the 1 with lobster for Mindy. Since we have all noted changes by batch, I wonder if these you had trouble with might have more fish & might be richer ?

August, I use Wellness Chicken and Turkey with my two crf kitties, along with Beechnut Stage 1 chicken & broth and homemade.
Nobody has diarrhea, but the turkey is not so much liked around here any more. Still eaten, just not always very much enthusiasm.
Much has been made of the pumpkin shortage and possible substitutions of butternut squash. I believe that's a Wellness fiber
ingredient and who knows what they're substituting maybe.
Since it's not happening to all three cats, I would think it was one ingredient upsetting/allergic reaction to one cat, maybe? If there
was some bacteria in the food, I would think it would happen to all of them (?)

ETA: After reading leslie's post, or maybe it's the Gulf of Mexico fish you're having trouble with? That's just speculation, but possible.

Interesting.  Hmm.

Chami is my 'worst' wet food eater, so I've been really happy that she's eating so much wet Wellness now.  I think I'll try giving her her dry + Evo wet for a week and then reintroduce one of the flavors and see what happens.

By the way, we also had trouble with the Chicken & Lobster one, both Larges and Tinies - but the digestive problems were inconsistent so I didn't write anything here.

August, if you have the MW cans, you might want to look for the ones that say "Made in Canada" -- very tiny but at the bottom right of the white part of the label. I haven't seen a label color change in these cans so I'm assuming you're using the "Made in USA" cans. I have been feeding the chick and turkey varieties to my cats pretty much every day (3 oz cans) with no problems whatsoever. This may be why Chami doesn't like the turkey anymore. Mine didn't like the MW cans either -- smells more like starch than meat for some reason.

Since Mooch has devoloped food sensitivities, Chami may also be doing the same since they are siblings.  I would suspect the fish, flax and sweet potato for a start.  What flavor was the one tablespoon that she had the last problem with?  That should help determine if it might be the fish or some other ingredient that's causing it.  Don't feed it a few days, then test one of the flavors and see what happens.

I've dealt with my dogs' food allergies for years now, and surprisingly, chicken is one of the top problem foods now.  That might be one to target in trying to figure out a possible food allergy.  Good luck!

I've only found two places in Japan that sells Wellness canned.   Undecided   And the Larges didn't start really liking the Wellness canned until the label color change (I guess made in USA).  I mean, they'd eat it, but not very well.  They've been eating much more of it at a sitting now.

That would so suck if Chami was developing symptoms of IBD - it had occurred to me if that might be what's happening.  But for now I'm going to believe it's the Wellness.  I'll try stopping the Wellness wet for Chami and then trying one out later.  The one she had last night was Chicken & Herring.

Try the straight chicken next time.  If she has diarrhea then, it's obviously not the fish.  I remember when the label got lighter.  That's about the time I went with all home-made, so I didn't really get to see if my cats had trouble with it.  Is yours the MW stamp?

Good idea to try the chicken one after a few days.

My 3 oz cans with the lighter label have some French writing (Natural Food for Cats Nourriture Pour Chats), so I'm thinking these are Canadian, or do the USA ones have that, too?

Oh wait, in the white part of the label - Made in USA.

I think if Chami has been having diarrhea for a week and a half, maybe its time to get her in to the vet and have some labwork done just to make sure she is OK.  There are all sorts of reasons for diahrrea and food intolerance is only one of them.   Is she having diarrhea more than once a day? Can you tell if she is running a fever?  I hope she starts feeling better very soon.
