Chicken Jerky Strips. Please list strips you have used, brand name if possible, and condition of your pet.  Please also describe them. Do they look like solid slices of meat or do they look substances combined and formed into strips?

I used to think that anyone doing anything weird was weird. I suddenly realized that anyone doing anything weird wasn't weird at all and it was the people saying they were weird that were weird.

I buy Plato chicken breast strips organic and purchased in Calif. at Centinella Pet Stores.  My little guy has been loving them over 6 months and he was affected by contaminated rice gluten ( NB Venison)

Sirs/Madam,

You guys should check out this link (below).  ADI, manufacture of “Waggin Train Chicken Jerky Tenders” is going into full blatant, absurd damage control attempt on the net.  The link below is just one place, they are actively going around the net trying damage control.  I can understand a company trying to do that – BUT, we have personally been injured by this product so we know first hand they are engaged in a lying campaign so we are outraged.

Check here:   http://www.topix.net/forum/source/newsday/TPSS8QRGJM6D4MVVA/p26

DO NOT THROW AWAY A HAZARDOUS OR POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS PRODUCT – THAT IS THROWING AWAY YOUR EVIDENCE.

There are other ways to safely store it for now in the interim. We vacuum sealed ours in a heavy duty bag.  You may need this evidence.

We have had the same experience with our little dogs after consuming Chicken Jerky Tenders by Waggin Train. We are not trying to pick on any particular company, it is just this one that we have had the experience of our little babies almost dying after consuming their product. There are also other companies selling the same type of product with people reporting the same types of results. Please understand, we would have no reason to tell our story if not for our experience and we wish that there really actually was a safe nutritious tasty treat for dogs such as this initially appeared to be to millions of dog owners.
<BR>
Sadly, we lost a little dog several years ago. It died of kidney failure like so many others we are reading here. We are still investigating that death through our purchase records from COSTCO to see how much of the chicken jerky product was purchased and used then. If so, then this has gone on quite a while.
<BR>
REGARDLESS - Our two present little white harmless trusting brother and sister Toy Poodles both have had terrible bouts of illness after eating these - nearly always delayed by up to several days making it hard to pinpoint.
<BR>
SYMPTOMS
<BR>
1. Dogs whimpering and in pain, very anxious and needing to go out a lot.
<BR>
2. Vomiting, greenish bile.
<BR>
3. Yellowish bloody diarrhea.
<BR>
4. Sick for a week, lethargic, semi-comatose, fading.
<BR>
5. Almost died.
<BR>
6. Vets perplexed.

I've been buying these chicken strips for eons......first Costco carried Waggin Train, then they switched to another brand (don't remember the name) & most recently Kingdom Pets.  They have all been solid strips......claiming to be nothing but chicken breast.  I honestly have never checked until recently when all this has come to light but I did look at the back of the bag of Kingdom I've been feeding from & saw "made in China".  Into the trash they went.

I have never fed Hannah more than two strips a day (some days none......she's a 55 lb Lab)......other than an occasional bout of diahrrea.......Lord knows from what......she's fine.  For which I am very thankful.

If this poor baby makes it to old age, it'll be a miracle.  Prior to the recall, when none of us realized what crap we were feeding our pets, she was eating some of the worst dry food out there.  I did have all the testing done & other than elevated thyroid levels, she's ok.  However, she's got major problems with allergies which she didn't have last summer (vet thinks it's airborne)......I'm home cooking & no matter what I feed, it doesn't seem to help her any.  Wonder if the crap food has anything to do with this. Huh

Hey check this out.
When you go to
http://www.waggintrainblog.com
you will see that one of the blog owners is Steve Stern.
Now go to
http://itchmoforums.com/making-a-difference/peeling-away-the-layers-the-truth-revealed-t257.0.html;msg1903#msg1903
and you will see that the spokesperson for Chem-Nutra is a Steve Stern.  Anybody good at investigating?

HD good find for those both. Have you been following this Steve Stern's posts, comments, appearances on the web for any particular reason? Some really fast comparisions especially since the 2nd link right here on Itchmo is from May.

JJ,
No I haven't been following the posts.  I just remembered the name when I went to the waggintrains blog. So just by chance I put the name in the search area.  I knew I had seen it before.  I just wasn't sure where.
It's definetly a strange coincidence.

Great catch!   Steve Stern owns a Crisis Communication Firm

Hmmm, why does Waggin Train need him if their products are fine?

http://www.waggintrainblog.com/

Blog started August 23, 2007--no coincidence.  What else jumped out at me are the Blogmeisters:

Steve Stern & Jonathan Bernstein--the damage control tag team boys ChemNutra hired.  As you recall, they did the blog thing for a while there also. They've blanketed the media with "safe" announcements re: the Waggin Train product.

Have a look at some threads on other forums:

http://www.topix.net/forum/source/newsday/TPSS8QRGJM6D4MVVA/p27

Note here that ADI Pet has two addresses--one in CA and another in NV.

And yet another here:

See here that the FDA Dallas office is investigating and that ADI employee/troll Jennifer is trying to CYA.

http://www.adipet.com/General/FAQ.shtml

Why does Waggin' Train operate factories in China?.

We discovered the average person in China prefers dark meat (i.e. legs, wings, etc.) and as a result we can buy the white meat breasts and tenderloins from chickens grown for human consumption at a fraction of the price available elsewhere. We operate these factories under the most stringent safety and sanitary guidelines and they are regularly inspected by our own QA team as well as third party independent inspection teams and auditors to insure we don't miss a single detail. The cost savings to our US consumers is approximately 70 – 75%.

http://www.adipet.com/General/Pressrelease.shtml

According to this, Jerry Peters is the ADI President.

From what I've been reading at Topix.net, the Waggin' Train packs have a vendor # AND a Lot # on them.

http://www.topix.net/forum/source/newsday/TPSS8QRGJM6D4MVVA/p29

"The vendor # is 933737 and the Lot # is 94270."

"Many dogs were violently ill after having a total of three treats from vendor 933737(oddly enough my bag doesn't have a lot#). I'd take your dog to another vet. "

So if there is a factory in China, what's with the vendor numbers?  It would all be the same vendor--the factory.  Vendor numbers implies that various lots come from more than one supplier.

Something's REALLY wrong here, just like the Pingyang/Bestros.  If it was not, ADI would not have all these complaint posts on various sites, FDA-Dallas wouldn't be investigating their treats, Waggin' Train wouldn't be off the shelves in some areas, nor would ADI have felt the need to bring in the ChemNutra damage control/crisis management team of Stern & Bernstein.

If it was simply allaying customers'  fears after the Pingyang/Bestro news, you don't need a crisis management bunch to do that-- a simple, truthful statement would do it. No spending of big bucks necessary unless you're hoping to keep the lid on something.
