The owner of the store where I buy pet food suggested California Natural Lamb and Rice for our dog's allergies, because of its very limited ingredients. He thought it would at least be a good starting point. I'm a bit hesitant to try it though, since I've read where others have had problems possibly related to Cal Nat.
Does any one here use Cal Nat for their dog, and how is he/she doing on it?

Why take the chance? Many have stated that they use Timberwolf Organics Ocean Blue and Orijen 6 fish when allergy concerns exist... I have read that the main sources of allergies are Soy Wheat Corn Dairy and sometimes Rice Good Luck Wilbur

Wilbur, I actually bought a small bag of the Cal Nat, but I think I agree with your statement of "why take the chance?". I think it's going back to the store. I'll look into the Orijen and Timberwolf. Thank you for the suggestions.

Can someone tell me what the problems were? I can't seem to find anything. I switched my dog from Science Diet to Cal Nat when the recalls started. He has an EXTREMELY sensitive stomach and has done great on it.

Hi - just a note...not sure about the dog food, but I noticed the cat foods appear to be somewhat reformulated. I started a Word document during all the recalls that included ingredient lists of various foods as well as nutrition and recall info, etc. I was updating it as Natura just came out with new EVO 95% meat foods for cats and figured I would review all their info. I noticed that the ingredient lists for the Cal Nat canned cat food changed......
Now, some of it was to just being more specific...i.e. replacing fish oil/broth with salmon oil/broth. But I also noticed the order of the ingredients shifted quite a bit. The nutrition #'s changed too - but just slightly.

Wendy88- There is an 87 page thread on the problems with Innova. Includes problems with other Natura foods, test results & co responses. It tested positive for CA & acetaminophen. Multiple reports of foreign objects in the kibble & bag, & bags full of food covered with some kind of crumbly, dusty ? As if the kibble was breaking down in the bag. Also sutures visible in the food.

I know someone, somewhere had mentioned alot of grass eating with CA. Daisy was eating California Natural dry. She did seem to eat alot more grass now that i think of it. She would wake me up at night to go outside. I thought she had business to do but she would just eat grass. Interesting. I switched her off the CA to Evo.
