Heres the link:

Now, I know I feed raw and yes my dog gets bones without harm (large non splinter) but not tiny cooked processed brittle salmon bones. I would not be happy about salmon bones in my dogs kibble.

Also, I thought they said they get ALL their ingredients fresh at their plant for processing. Why is it being processed somewhere else?

Congratulations, Nikki for now feeding your dog some raw!   Wink

Thanks. She has been on N.V. Raw for about 4 months now. 90% She gets half a can of Instinct also every day. She has blossomed and is looks and feels great. Blood work is perfect. No close to high or low ranges. Everything in the middle like it should be. Now all we have to do is make sure the Mast cell is gone (which it looks like it is) and she will be 100% perfect for now.

Heres a link to another forum with a post from a retailer about the orijen. Some people also say Orijen posted it on their website for one day and then removed it. Its not on there now that I can find.

Glad to hear that... carbs feed tumors and probably mast cells... going raw or high protein cooked, min carb is the cornerstone of the battle against this sort of thing, IMHO.

It is also helpful to note that the Orijen post about bones did not include their cat food and was limited to the listed 7 numbered lots in dog food.

I guess if they had a statement on their website readily available we would know that and more.

I was informed today there is a statement on their website. But its the main website for Champion Foods. If you do a search for Orijen and get the Orijen part of the website it won't be there. You have to go to Champion Foods. Heres the link: I still don't buy the idea that all is ok and the food with sharp bones does no harm. The store I usually go to for my food had no idea about it and they were never notified. Its been since late April and no word. I wonder why?

I have talked to several retailers in my area. I can't believe that none of the retailers knew about this. I guess I will call more tomorrow. Shame on them for not letting the stores know. I would think more people would be worried about sharp bones in food. I would be horrified.

I checked consumer affairs did not find anything on site, went to Petsit USA , scroll down past the "Concerns of nutro and other pet food issues"  Champion foods is mentioned . Can click on champion foods and the  same letter that is on their website comes up.  Have seen subject mentioned in other forums but that is all I have found so far.

Thanks for posting that link. I seen it the other day and was floored. I can't believe they are telling people that the food is safe to feed still. Or better yet, one reps response said you can always pick out the kibble with the bones. HUH?Huh? Are you kidding me. I could not believe that response. I can't imagine ANY company telling people to just pick out the bone kibble. Did you see the pictures? They looked sharp to me. What bothers me more is the fact that they have not contacted any retailers to let them know of this problem. Not one store I talked to knew about this. That is very sad. Something this serious is being downplayed as safe to feed since dogs eat bones in the wild?Huh I guess they forgot that those bones are not cooked and in little pieces. Anyway I just can't believe the audacity of saying its still safe to feed. Unbelievable yet not surprising. I'll keep checking around to see how this plays out.

These big companies really piss me off and won't come out and say they screwed up..

http://championpetfoods.com/charlie_letter.pdf

My dog almost choked to death with there food and they pretend its a big joke and nothing...if there are such a great company why are they now doing better screening..and didn't really screen before...I love how they say the bones aren't big enough to see yet big enough to choke my dog..unreal...companies just don't own up

This isn't news:

http://itchmoforums.com/your-problems-with-pet-food/warning-making-accusations-or-claims-about-pet-food-t418.0.html

Do report what you find, but be accurate and fair.

We should let you know that if you are claiming something negative about a product (IE: Product X contains poisons, or uses roadkill) please make sure that you state either "I believe" or provide evidence of the claim. Your opinions are totally fine as long as you don't claim something not true as a fact. As you may know, many pet food companies visit this site and we would hate for you or us to be sued by what's posted here. We hate having to remove anyone's posts. We also don't want to cause unsubstantiated panic.

Itchmo or any of our admins will not be responsible for unsubstantiated comments.

Thank you!
