Nutrisource and Natural Planet Organics  (both made by same company)
KLN Enterprises

Local feed store recently started carrying them.  Haven't studied them yet.  Here are links.

Says:   2006-2007 Top APPROVED DRY DOG FOOD (Whole Dog Journal)  Not sure which formula that is for.  Anyway for your enjoyment and/or dissection.

JustMe the nutrisource has menadione sodium bisulfite which is I believe synthetic vitamin k (that is in Nutro Wholistic and took my dog off that 1 yr ago because of it) egg product (fake not real eggs) fish meal - where did the fish come from, are they loaded with mercury, did they come from the sewage toilet sludge from the mela with everything place? read link and see if you want to eat fish or feed it to you pet since a great majority is imported from mela land - http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=56004 After reading this post by dingbat I will never, ever touch fish again. Just the thought is DISGUSTING! and dont forget they suspend the chicken cages over the water so they can add some poop for the fish to eat. Sure you still want that fish?

JJ,
Woa!  I never said I was feeding my pets this stuff.  I just saw it in the store today, new product they were carrying. Never heard of it and was wondering if anybody had.  LOL  I feed my cats and dogs grain-free food for the most part.

I did not say you were feeding any of this to your pet. Does my post state that? No it is just a heads up to others as to what is in the food. You asked if anyone had heard of the food. I clicked on the links to read what was in the food and told you what I had seen on the ingredient list. And as far as the fish go that is a heads up for humans as well as pets. Eat at your own risk - did not tell anyone not to eat it just to think twice before doing so.

I haven't heard of those products? I was wondering if anyone feeds Eagle Pack Holistic Lamb and Rice?  Two weeks ago one of our dogs became very ill, violent diarreah, vomiting, lethargic, dehydrated...needless to say it was late at night and I was out of town with a cancer dog getting her Tx. My daughter  tried pedialyte until we could get him to vet. He was just lying in my daughters lap and pooped all over her! Now this is one of the dogs that I previously had fed Nutro to,while just before he became ill she was staying at a friends and gave him a drug store brand that looked like pedigree just one time and that is when he started the symptoms. After, two days at the vets on IV therapy and blood work etc...The vet who is fairly new to us said he did not find anything wrong with him except dehydration?? Sent him home with antibiotics and told her to feed rice and burger or chicken. Now he is gaining weight and doing wonders on home cooked food only. But she kept telling me that it was the Eagle pack that it smelled funny? It does smell strong and I have fed it to my dogs with no problems until they ran out of it at feed store and got the Nuto (before the recall) and now one of my girls is ill? I know to gradually switch the foods so I am considering cooking for the whole crew now! Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with Eagle? Thanks for any info! Lizzardldy and all

It just seems a strange combo to me... and even stranger that they are obviously so proud of it.

http://www.tuffyspetfoods.com/aboutus.php

licorice:  looks like they own several different businesses, pet food.  Candy and snack food companies for people.

History of Tuffy's

Darrell "Tuffy" Nelson, father of Kenny Nelson, owned Pine Lakes Feed in Perham, Minnesota in 1947. After returning to Perham from college in 1964, Kenny developed the Tuffy's Dog Food Company in partnership with his father. This was an excellent extension of the business considering most of the raw materials used in dog food were already at Pine Lakes Feed.

In March of 1971, Tuffy's was sold to Star-Kist Foods, a Division of H.J. Heinz. After selling the business to Star-Kist, Kenny began a new company in Perham called Barrel O' Fun Snack Foods. Barrel O' Fun began production in 1973 manufacturing potato chips and other snack foods. In April of 1981, Barrel O' Fun was sold to G. Heileman Brewing Company. After selling Barrel O' Fun, Kenny began yet another new company in Perham, Kenny's Candy, manufacturing licorice.

In July of 1988, an investment group, along with Kenny Nelson and a group of managers, re-purchased Barrel O' Fun Snack Food Company from G. Heileman Brewing Company. In November of 1995, KLN Enterprises, headed up by Kenny Nelson, was formed to purchase Kenny's Candy Company and Barrel O' Fun Snack Foods. Kenny also owned a tortilla/lefsa company in Perham which was managed under contract by KLN Enterprises and an independent chocolate manufacturing company.

Star-Kist Foods sold the Tuffy's pet food plant to Windy Hill Pet Food Company in 1996. Windy Hill Pet Food Company merged with Doane Pet Care in 1998 and Tuffy's pet food plant became known as Doane Pet Care.

In April of 2001, KLN Enterprises purchased the pet food manufacturing facility in Perham from Doane Pet Care and formed Tuffy's Pet Foods, Inc. Currently, all three companies originally begun by Ken Nelson (Barrel O' Fun Snack Foods, Kenny's Candy and Tuffy's Pet Foods) are wholly owned subsidiaries of KLN Enterprises, Inc

Nutrisource is a division of Tuffy's Pet Foods.
