my Jellie belly just died a few minutes ago
its ocean whitefish & tuna feast (doesnt say grilled or with gravy)

The doctor at the ER I went to said they didnt do Tox screens like they did on humans, the reciept here says cbc/superchem profile and Feline Serology
 I am so sorry this tragedy happened to sweet Jelly. My deepest sympathies and prayers to you, Meowsalot {{{hugs}}} Purina has to answer for this! |

Oh Meowsalot, I'm soooooooo sorry for your loss! How old was Jellie? Did she have any illnesses before this FF illness? How is Peanut doing?

Meowsalot- I am so sorry to hear about Jelly. Can you have testing or a necropsy done ? It may help you find out how to treat the others who ate it also.Sending hopes that the others will be alright & hugs to you for your loss.

Jellie was 11 months old, they were all perfectly healthy, not even a sniffle, i need to find out how much it would cost first before i get her tested... does anyone know how i can go about testing the food?
my husband contacted purina and they said there was nothing they can do and for us to file a claim, >_<

Oh my gosh, I cant believe it! Oh poor Jellie! I am so sorry for you Meowsalot. Do you have any other unopened cans left of that same flavor, besty by date? You can always send some to Epertox or another lab and ask for testing to be done. Does anyone remember names of other labs she could use and what type of test would she ask for? I suppose talking to the lab would help determine the name of the test. Its just an idea Meowsalot! I am sooo sorry for your loss and am in shock. I think if it were me I would consider getting food tested too. I think it can cost around $200 to do that but might be very well worth it. I think Catherine MacIvor fromthe Florida lawsuit comes on board here occasionally, she might like to know about this too.
Can you think of anything Jellie might have gotten into, anything in a garage, or new plants, anything?

They are indoor cats and we havent had anything new in the house at all.
We had to child proof the cabinets because they would go in and steal stuff like bread or whatever else was ina bag and made noise .we definatly dont have anything toxic around the house for them to get to.

Do you have a vet school nearby? They might be able to do toxicology on tissue samples. I am in shock at this.

anybody else notice the plant number 1160 strikes again. Amy what food is your cat eating shaking hind legs as one of the big red flags with my vet that finally got her attention that even though my food ws not on the list and is still not on the list to listen to me. Both my cats are now awaiting there 3rd BCB screening do to increased Kidney levels. They were eating FF with Wheat Gluten lot # 1160. See my long sotry under what symptons are you seeing forum. |

I am wondering with a certain kind of trepidation if that lot FF had too much potassium chloride in it? Symptoms of potassium chloride poisoning (for humans):
- confusion, anxiety, feeling like you might pass out
- uneven heartbeat
- extreme thirst, increased urination
- leg discomfort
- muscle weakness or limp feeling
- numbness or tingly feeling in your hands or feet, or around your mouth
- nausea or upset stomach
Potassium chloride is listed as one of the top 6 or 8 ingredients in FF Ocean Fish + Tuna (light blue label?)
