Has anyone else been prescribed azithromycin (Zithromax) for their cats or dogs?  How well was it tolerated?  Any diarrhea, etc?

Both Bones and Pip have been on this medication in the past for upper resp issues. There were no problems at all unless you want to count the sticky mess we got into because they're not fond of cherry liquid. It's only available here in the pediatric form in the dosage required for animals.

Thanks, Bug.  Yeah it tastes nasty.  Blech.  Just gave BJ his first dose.

What do you mean by "without incident"?

Without you getting splattered with sticky pink, cherry liquid or without having to wash it out of their fur.

Heck, if they get it in their fur, just let them lick it off.  At least you get the medicine into them that way. Grin

What's he being treated for?

As if he doesn't have enough problems with a broken jaw and a tongue that hangs out one side of his mouth and drools, he has swollen, red gums, and is going to have dental work.  Expecting at least 2 molars will have to be removed.  Awaiting results of FeBart.  He was sick for about a month recently with runny eye, nose, coughing.

Oh, poor baby. Hope everything gets fixed after the dental work. One of my mom's cats had plasmacytic gingivitis and before she was a year old, we had to extract all of her teeth. She's been great since. Glad he doesn't have that and hope he doesn't have feBart.
