Oh man!  That's scary!  Glad that the furkids are safe, though -- but soemthing has to be done to protect them against outside predators.

Thank goodness everyone is all right.  Did Lucy actually come into contact with the THING, or was it outside the fence.

Anticoyte fencing - it doesn't sound pretty, but a 6' wooden fence might be adapted without too much trouble:

coyote rollers - keep out anything that tries to climb over by hooking front feet on top of fence (have no idea if they work but sounds good):

Carol, DH said that normally you wouldnt hear that screeching sound from a coyote or even a fox, but possibly a mountain lion.  But he said if anything is rabid, they would make sounds they dont normally make..... Shocked

Carol so glad the whole family is ok. Took a look at link from Petslave for the coyote roller and it can be installed onto existing fencing. Might also want to ask Db what type of fencing/barrier he has installed. Had to be something pretty big to scare off Lucy.

Today is Lucy's 3rd birthday!!!  She is going to have a special treat "with Harry" and of course little Jack....we have been singing to her all morning and she looks so happy---the center of attention has always made her happy!

Happy Birthday Sweet Lucy Lou!

Aaww Carol, will we get to see pics of Lucy Lou wearing her pawty hat?  It sounds like a very fun day all the way around!  Puppies bounding everywhere and one happy Lucy Lou getting lots of attention.  Be sure to protect any expensive table targets as I suspect there will be lots of tails wagging very aggressively today.   Wink
