Sophs wants to give some of her tips regarding litterboxes and potty time:  "To make sure its covered up really, really good, I first scratch the top of the wastebasket that is next to the litterbox. See my technique?"

"Then I scratch down at the side of the wastebasket where the plastic liner is".

"Then I move over to the other side and scratch the wall.  This does a really complete job of covering the poo and pee-pee"....so says the Drama Queen.   Cheesy Roll Eyes  Of course, if its diarrhea, she's out of there in a flash and leaves the cover-up and clean-up to her slaves.   Cheesy

Looks like the Queen is in top form to me!  She doesnt go for the leaping out after, then scratching the floor all around the box then?Huh??

lol JoMax, no she really doesnt leap out right after and scratch the floor...well she leaps out after and runs off like a bucking bronco if its diarrhea but other than that, nope, she just stands in her box and scratches anything she can reach.   Cheesy

I think the litter slinging is a guy thing !  Cheesy Soph has the right idea, just doesn't like scratching the litter itself ! Looks like you were getting awfully close to her twee there.

Gulp!  OK, Sophers, I for sure won't mess with that cat tree!  LOL.  Such a face--no doubt about what she is thinking.

And I am certain that she's a member of the same litter box team as Kalahari, who also has to scratch all possible surrounding surfaces when covering.  One of our basement litter boxes is near a cold air return duct (of course connected to all the ductwork in the house.)  The echo of cat claws on that metal at 3am, carried throughout the house by the ducts, is something that can raise you right up out of bed and make you beg for mercy...

I guess we can add our Amir to the list of scratch-everywhere-else-but-the-litter cats too. The side of the tub, the wall, etc.
He does not cover his pee or poo either ...we don't wake up from the scratching noise, but the fragrence of eau-de-poop wafting through the air will get us out of bed...

Great pics of Sophers, love the expression from the cat tree

Lol at the pics and stories about litter habits. Do yours run around at crazy speeds just before doing No. 2? Max also tends to dig in Ziwipeak bowl before, I guess that shows his opinion about that food  Cheesy

Love the pics, Sandi!  Sophers personality just shines through in them!   Cheesy  Mandy had covered litter boxes, and after she covered everything IN the box, she scratched the top of the front of the hood, first with one paw, then the other, before she came out of the box.  Cats!   Roll Eyes

ROFL this is cracking me up, you guys!  Love, love, love all your stories!

Alek0, YES, lol  Sophers runs around alot before going #2 too!  Wow Mandcat, Mandy was extra involved with her scratching routine wasnt she, she made darn sure it was really covered up well, bless her heart.  So, Steve, Sash being a guy and all didnt fling his litter everywhere, like some of the other boy kitties mentioned here?  Ah well, that must be what Kings do...afterall it is King Sash we are talkin about.   Kiss  Meowli, oh yes, the smell of eau de poo at 3am, I can just smell it now, lol  Catbird, the scratching noise on the ducts is just hilarious...errr, well in theory as Im sure hearing that at night isnt such a fond sound.   Cheesy   Thanks guys, all your stories and comments are just great.  "dig to china"!    Grin
