Pgmypets: We should do a live "Nativity Scene" at your place next Christmas!
Now, who volunteers to be Mary? Must be pure and angelic looking - that rules ME out.

oh now I want a donkey, the are so cool............................do think anyone would notice if I had one in my front of my townhouse in the yard in the middle of northern Va suburbia., LOL I want a goat too. This is great what a wonderful life you have. Animals animals everywhere I cannot think of a better way to live. Except the trek you have to make for Ice coffee., you are livin the dream. yikes No kidding! Wouldn't it be wonderful!? A barnyard full of goats, donkeys, chickens, ducks and of course, dogs and cats! Sounds like heaven to me.

Why do cats always jump on your lap with their claws out? Especially when you are wearing shorts?

Bridgett, yes this is Diablo and Pablo. We adopted them last fall. They are very tiny and the little stinkers bite our butts!
Really!? Ow! Little love nips or are they bossing you around? My father used to have a donkey that he rode as a kid. He tells me that she was VERY smart. They would go riding out in to the sand dunes west of El Paso, TX. When Maggie, the donkey, got tired, she would throw my dad off and leave him. He would have to walk all the way home! Your little guys sure are cute. I can see the mischieviousness in their eyes! You have quite the crew! But those little black goaties are the cutest!

I love your photos and narratives. I could see a children's book based on your menagerie.

notherdirtybird..I hope your dream comes true for you. It was a long time for us but we never stopped thinking about living in the country with a motley animal crew. And finally it happened. This is not our dream farm, far from it , It has a ramshackle house, rutted driveway and the ground is full of rocks. But it is our little Haven and it has become our home and country living has bought us much enjoyment . We have had to make many changes like instead of urns overflowing with flowers on green grassy yards we now have farm equipment in mud overflowing with goats

goingnutz..You can hide your donkettes in yard behind a privacy fence and then hustle them into your basement at nite. Unless they start "honking" no one will ever know they are there. Ha Ha...but the goats , well they would not cooperate, they would definitly want to be in the house all the time...here is Herbert and Bob trying to "get in". Stopped for my iced coffee on the way home...things are bad...I am pushing 2 to 3 a day now...get me to rehab.

pygmypets, These pictures are a HOOT, those littel buggers look so darn determine to be let in. I love it. What do you mean they HONK LMAO, I love your stories and pics and like what someone said earlier about writing children's book, you have all the material you need right in front of you. One sunny day down on the farm Herbert and Bob decided to have some fun, instead of eating the grass to help their owner with the mowing they decided to take the tractor for a ride...................when the donkeys Diablo and Pablo saw this they knew the goats were up to no good, so they went and found the owner hanging up clothes in the backyard and started nipping at her bottom to get her attention........................They would be right up there with Ferdinand the Bull who sat around and smelled flowers all day. BTW I am up to having a large Ice coffee every morning on the way to work I do not even make hot coffee at home anymore. I switched it up a little Mickey d's 3 days a week and Dunkin Dounuts the other two.

Bridgett....oh the donketes as we call them are precious. they are absolutely tiny.and ornery. Black one is Diablo, grey is Pablo. They bite hard but have such tiny mouths it really doesn't hurt....much...LOL I see them both latch onto husband Erics butt and drag him around the field . He can hardly sit down, his butt's so sore from donkey bites ...but I have to admit I been laughing watching him walk around with 2 tiny donkeys swinging off his butt like flags in the wind. Their legs are so short they don't really run , they do a donkey hop. And what deep voices come out of those tiny bodys!. They HOOOOONNNNK!!!!!!!!! We adopted them in November. I enjoyed your story about your Dad and Maggie..your poor Dad!

All these little critters are soooo CUTE!!! Thanks for sharing great pics of 'the other pets' with us! The goats look like they don't like to stand on the ground if they have other options. They also look like they pick the warmest places to lounge! The donkey are very cute. How tall do they get?
