Hello there Pugsley. You remind me of my Angelus. What a beautiful boy.

Peg, it's soooo nice to hear that he's doing so much better. Are you thinking that he's pretty much done with the Bartonella? It's over and he's a normal kitty now?

Peg this means that Pugsley is just about all recovered now? Glad you stuck by him and never waivered.

bug, Pugsley will be retested in February......febart PCR.

I saw no improvement after his 3 week course of antibiotics back in July and August and there really is nothing that will cross the blood/brain barrier antibiotic wise.  Since then I have had him on Olive Leaf extract twice daily and by about the middle of October, I started to see some real improvement.  Olive Leaf is antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal.  My vet uses it a lot as an antibiotic for rabbits so she was thrilled to hear that I started him on it and I plan to keep him on it.

His appetite has improved dramatically, his fur is gorgeous, he doesn't sleep constantly, is no longer lethargic and he has actually grown a bit.  The bartonella had actually penetrated into his brain.  It was seen in his CSF by the pathologist who notified the neurologist, but the neurologist chose to ignore it, probably because the neuro never ran the test for the bartonella.  With bartonella, it can locate itself in organs of the body and won't be picked up with routine blood testing.......hence the PCR in February.

Ah, good to do the definitive test. It must be so nice to have him back. The poor little guy had gone through so much -- and so have you. I'll have to read about olive leaf extract, sounds like a good remedy for many things.

Pugsley looks like he is doing quite well.  All your cats look great, Peg.  Glad to see some recent photos of them.
