Wow, that does look bad, big abcess?  Cat bites & claw holes are so bad about sealing up & getting infected.  Waiting waiting waiting....

(BTW, I wonder if it's time to switch the names - the tinies are large now, and the larges are tiny compared to them)

Heheh, yeah, Larges only by age, for sure.

**WARNING: Post-surgery photos ahead.  Very clean but you might not want to be eating breakfast when you see them.**

So my own new doctor (who did the Larges’ teef) wasn’t in.  I ended up having a doctor I didn’t know = didn’t like examine Tuesy.  She recommended immediate emergency surgery saying it could have complications.

Needless to say I was xxapping my pants at this point.  Especially if it was going to be a serious, dangerous surgery, I wanted the best doctor at the clinic available, and that would be my doctor who would be in the following day.

How could this be happening from a cat fight that literally lasted one second?

I brought Tuesy home with me and feeling desperation ended up spending an evening in hysterics on the phone with Dr. Ueda in Kyoto.  He was so incredibly awesome as always, talking to me in between seeing his own patients over there, having me send photos and updates by email, studying them and calling me back.  Ultimately he felt it would be okay to wait until the next morning and not rush Tuesy to the ER.  I slept exclusively with Tuesy and Sunday on the floor of the 1st floor.  Or rather, they slept and I freaked out all night.   Tongue

Tuesy had the surgery first thing the next morning with my doctor and spent one night at the hospital and then came home looking like this - that’s two ends of a squishy rubber tube coming out of his head, deliberately inserted to release the accumulating air.  It was removed a few days later so that the wound could heal a little bit without swelling up with trapped air.

The MRI showed that the gash had not reached his skull.  Tuesy was all good and now he just needed to heal up!

To be continued...

Ouch poor Tuesday!  Shocked
I'm glad it did work out ok and he has healed up now..
I do have a delicate question....how is the relationship between the kitties now...?  Have they become friends again..?

Ugh. That looks familiar. One bite can swell up like that in no time. It's extra scary to have it on his head though. I would have been freaking out as well. Thank goodness you had the awesome Dr. Ueda to help you even though he's in Kyoto!

Has Tuesday learned his lesson? Or is he still being a bossy-butt?

Poor Tuesday!  I'm so glad that you were able to talk to Dr. Ueda, though.  He is an awesome vet!  It appears that you have found an equally good vet to replace him, though.  It is amazing, though, that such a short scuffle resulted in so much damage to poor Tuesday!

Tuesday is completely healed and his fur is all grown back.

For a long while he wore what I was calling his "fancy scab beret" which sat slightly slanted, hovering over his head.   Cheesy  I thought it would never fall off, and I prayed I'd be around to know where in the house it fell off.   Cheesy  Thankfully it popped off in clear sight and I was able to put his beret in the garbage.   Smiley

I would so love to say that that fight worked as a catalyst to Tiny harmony, but alas, it did not.   Tongue  In fact, they're extremely grumpy towards each other now.  Neither one is "top" kitty and whenever one passes by the other, it's grumpy-butts all around.  The sound they make is like a mini-motorcycle and a mini-police car chasing each other around a race track, and I hear it every single day, much to my dismay.   Roll Eyes  Friday has gained a lot of confidence, though, that's for sure, and at least that's awesome.

That tube in Tuesy's head is actually one soft, long tube running from one hole to the other.  My doctor, Dr. Nouchi, just snipped off the sutures, pulled one end of the tube and it just slipped right out.  After that, the wounds started healing and became a fashionable scab beret.

It was at this follow-up with Dr. Nouchi that the beginning of something positive began.   Cheesy

More soon!

Tuesy, not too pleased with his hair style but healing well, getting some sun rays with my feet.   Grin

I'm going to wait until you tell us what the Positive is, but I guessed what it might be before you posted the first pics of Tuesday.   Grin

I hope I'm right!

Tuesday looks much better in this shot!  These kitties are pretty resilient.  I just wish there weren't bad feelings between Tuesday and Friday.  They might work it out with time, though.

Well, I have not guessed, so I'm bouncing impatiently in my seat!   Cheesy

I'm glad Tuesday is doing well, and that it wasn't worse.  I hope the boys work something out and harmony can be established.

I hope I haven't gotten anyone too excited!   Cool   I'd hate to have it be anticlimactic.   Smiley

So before I tell you what Dr. Nouchi told me at Tuesy's followup, I thought I'd first tell you what Dr. Ueda emailed me.

Dr. Ueda had been so kind helping me through my panic with Tuesy, I sent him a gift and also an email with a photo.  This is the year-end photo I sent:

I'll tell you the comments that were the catalyst to "positive" in my next post!   Cheesy

Owie, Tuesday! I'm glad he's all better now.

Waiting with bated breath for the continuation!  Cheesy
