I need to fill you all in with what is going on. Not good news about sweet Kozy. He started having facial deformity along with weight loss. We have done xrays, aspirations, CT scan, and oncology consults with a local specialist clinic and also CSU Vet School Flint Cancer Center. The consensus is advanced nasal cancer with bone loss. After weighing our options Steve and I have made the decision to try palliative radiation therapy. We will start the once a week for six weeks treatment this week. I am pretty anxious about corralling him since he is already quite wary from the recent vet visits.
Kozy is doing good in spite of this. He’s eating pretty well, still watching his birdies, and wants to play. We will keep him comfortable and happy for as long as we can. Not how the new year was supposed to start, right?

Good luck with radiation therapy.
So sorry about the bad news with diagnosis, but the most important thing is that he is still eating well and wants to play. My vet has always been saying look at the cat, not the numbers/diagnosis.

Thank you for that reminder  I completely agree. Oh no Fizzy I am so upset to hear this  I know, I’m so sorry! We’ve been trying to figure this out since early December. I just couldn’t post during the holidays.. didn't want to bum out Kozy’s friends over Christmas.  Oh no, Fizzy. Sending good thoughts for the radiation therapy. We’ll be thinking of you. {{hugs}}
Thank you, GKit. His first treatment is Thursday. I will keep you updated. Kozy says Wear your masks!

I am so sorry about this diagnosis , but hopeful that the treatment will give you more quality time with him Thanks, Leslie! Our regular vet told us that her patients who have had the palliative radiation did quite well afterwards. We’re hoping for the same. I hope his first treatment went well and he is feeling good. Please give him extra lovies from me. Will do, NedF He seemed to handle it well. He ate right away although he was a little more skittish than usual. This morning he was in his usual routine, eat breakfast, watch birds, take a nap. The paperwork from the clinic shows he’s lost a pound since December.

I’m glad Kozy’s first treatment went well, Fizzy, and that he was back to watching birds shortly after.
