hello everyone,i'm new here,my name is lori, and i'm writing to you from a place called MINOT,in NORTH DAKOTA.The reason why i call myself felinedoctobe is because that's what i want to do,right now,i'm starting school on-line to be a vet assistant, when i'm done with that, then i'm moving to denver to go to bel-rae to become a vet tech, then with a little luck,on to vet school itself.I have two american-shorthair kittens, their both sisters,so their really close to each other. Both of them are about eight months old.I'm sure that one of them is the oldest, because she;s alot bigger than her sister, her name is nightshade, and her sister's name is moonshadow,i gave them these names because there both black in color.I really, really love my two girls,as i like to call them,i work at the local supermarket here in town and when i come home,i get alot of luvin from my girls!!!They seem to know when iv'e had a rough day. There's only one thing that my cats do that i can't figure out!!!Why do my girls like WATER????Everytime i turn the water in my sink, for example, when i do the dishes, they come running!!!They'll stick their paws in it and even their heads, like nightshade did the other day, sometimes,i'll even find one or the other, taking a nap in the kitchen sink!!!!When i fill their bowl, their RIGHT THERE when i turn the water on,and when i turn it off, they'll try to figure out where the water went,it's kinda funny watching them.Today,i tried trimming their claws, moonshadow was preatty good about it,but not nightshade!!She didn't like that at all!!!I was only able to get one paw done, but i'll do the other one later.I wish i had a camera so i could post some pictures, but i don't,so that's my story so far,if you want to talk to me,you can right here,my name here is felinedoctobe or you can write to me at  redfleigergirl@yahoo.com  bye!!! felinedoctobe

awww.... that is soooo cute and adorable... about your two girls' fascination with water!  And may I be the first here at Itchmo to extend you a very very very warm WELCOME, Felinedoctobe.  Your ambition to enter the vet field is a noble one and I might add that we can use your soon-to-be expertise in this forum.  You'll find many many knowledgable and passionate pet people here who are also warm, kind and very generous with their hearts.  Spend a little time reviewing the petfood experience posts (catfood experience) so you can stay abreast of what's good petfood and what's not.  If you want to try your hand at home-preparing your cats' food, there's the home-made food and remdies thread... and lots more.

Welcome, felinedoctobe. We have a cat that has shown interest in water. He used to live in town with my late father-in-law, and when there was a drip in the tub faucet he would jump in and slap at the drips. I've heard cats really like those fountains that circulate drinking water for them, but I don't have one so I have not seen that first hand.

Welcome felinedoctobe,
I have 4 cats who love to play on the water!!  2 of them dunk their faces in the bowl and swish their paws around.  I call it "swimmin".  One sleeps in the bathroom sink and gets a bit offended if you move him out to turn on the water.....he would prefer to be wet with the sink water.  The 4th one would let me bathe her everyday, which I don't do cause it would be too drying for her skin.  Loves when I use the hairdryer to dry her off.....go figure.

You have a lot of hard work ahead of you, but I extend you my best wishes for success in your career endeavors!!

Welcome felinedoctobe- Good luck with school. My cousin just finished vet school 3 yrs ago at 37. It's never too late for your dreams. Your cats remind me of our Patches. We used to have to lock her out of the bathroom. She could open doors & if you were showering or bathing ,she would jump right in ! Scared the heck of of me 1 st time she did it. She especially liked bubble bathes.

Welcome!

My cats are weird with water too.  I was trying to put my contacts on this morning and I had two cats in the sink waiting for me to turn on the water.  I had to rinse off my contacts in the bathtub!

Tucker, my boy kitty, is fanatical about having fresh water.  If his water is old, like from yesterday, he starts digging around the dish.  He is either trying to bury it or dig for freshwater.  Who know what is going on in his feline mind.  So that is how he treats water in his dish.  But he LOVES to drink out of the fish bowl.  Water that hasn't be changed in a week?!?!?! and has a fish living in it?!?!?!?!? Fish flavored water, I guess. Roll Eyes
