Why do cats always jump on your lap with their claws out? Especially when you are wearing shorts?

Two gray tabbies, two torties, and one black kitty. Three girls, two boys, torties girls, other girl could be either black or tabby.

The POSSIBLE father is a gray tiger, no orange on him anywhere. I'm going to have to print this thread off so I can keep your guesses straight here and see who wins the . . . grand prize. catmom?

. . . or all of the above? Talked to my friend who's with the rescue and found out where Sassy and the babies will be going for foster care. It's a great home, actually the founder of the rescue is taking them herself. So I'm feeling pretty happy about the whole thing. There's going to be a happy ending for Sassy Cat and her babies after all.
On the downside, I have to repair a couple of holes in the screen in one of Sassy's windows . . . obviously she was into some climbing or saw something outside that she wanted to go after. Problem child, but you gotta love her.

LOL catmom?, what a coincidence, I had just about posted yesterday the need to stock up on screen for your windows but I was thinking it wouldnt be a problem until the kittens were born........but the more I think about it, it makes perfect sense. Ms Sassy has found one of the biggest joys of being an in-door kitty! Window screens! Yahoo! She is learning to navigate them now in order to teach it to her kittens once they are born. Smart girl Sassy!

catmom? - Just watch that Sassy doesn't push the whole screen out of the frame. My next door neighbor's kitty did just that - more than once! The first time, I came out onto my front porch and heard some meowing above my head. Looked up and there was Cleo perching on the edge of their awning over their front porch. She had pushed out the screen of the second floor bedroom and jumped out onto the awning. Unfortunately, my neighbors were not at home at the time! So, while praying that she wouldn't take a leap off of the awning and onto the ground, I ran to get a cat carrier and ladder so I could capture her. I captured her, and when she was safely in the carrier, I called my neighbor on their cell phone to let them know what happened. Fortunately, they keep a key in their shed for emergencies and were able to give me the combination of the lock so I could get the key and put Cleo back into the house. Of course, I also closed all the windows so there would not be a repeat performance that day. This was just the first of Cleo's escapes through a window screen until her owners got wise and put a more solid kind of ventilation thing (don't know what to call it) in the window that prevented her from getting to the screen itself. I also suggested to them that they could push the screen up to the top half of the window and open it only from the top a bit for ventilation. I started doing that when one of my cats decided to try to paw at the screen and I was afraid that she would make a hole and fall or jump out. The cats can still look out the window, but will be safe. It sounds like Sassy and the kittens will be well taken care of once they leave your home. I'm sure, though, it will still be sad for you to let them go. It's too bad that Sassy can't join your family permanently.

Mine have done that, too. I found several of them outside one early morning years ago, knocked out a basement screen. Last week, one of them knocked one of the screens out of the bay window after his claws got stuck in it, so now I have to keep the outside window closed until we can figure out how to rig it so they can't knock it out.

What they don't think of after we go to bed . . . Actually the windows in Sassy's room are sliders so I just have to keep them closed enough so that fat mama cat can't get in close enough to climb the screens. Will try and get some good belly baby pics today . . . cm?

Sassy seems to spend most of her time sprawled out like this. She's getting pretty heavy, too. Still having some "cow pie" poop, even on the low residue (although I just switched her "cold turkey"). Keeping a close eye on her. Hope these turn out.
