He is supposed to have long legs, but for his breed he's pretty short.  Cheesy

I'm fed up!  I'm fed up with cat food!

I switched to Instinct original formula, because the cats were indicating they were tired of Candidae.

I actually went on a shopping spree at my old cat food store and bought a variety of foods that I haven't used since moving.

Ziwi Peak gave them diarrhea (too high in protein, I think).  Verus was good, but they didn't really like it.  Instinct was being gobbled up.

So I ordered Not 1, not 2, but 7  SEVEN!!!! cases of it.  and now they walk away from it.  AND someone is throwing up.  Several times.  Sad  Nightmare!

I'm looking at Fancy Feast and Purina Beyond, because I'm FED UP!!!

Gahhhh, I'm so glad I'm not dealing with that anymore!!  That is SUCH a freaking nightmare.

If they were enjoying the Ziwipeak, I'd suggest continuing with that and seeing if they'd get more accustomed to it (with the diarrhea issue).  I know you had some success with Vital Essentials, but that can get so expensive when you've got a multi-cat home.   Tongue

I've actually found that the only time we have any diarrhea issues over here is the day following serving canned tuna or canned chicken and am now thinking to leave cooked foods entirely behind.

We had success with (canned) Instinct original duck, original rabbit, and original lamb.  Maybe if you rotate with those the original chicken will start tasting good again?   Roll Eyes

Same problem here. Holy diarrhea Batman! I guess I'm going to donate a case of food to the cat rescue.

So sorry to hear about diarrhoea issues, it can be very frustrating. And it is so damn unpredictable.

My cats really enjoyed when I steamed some chicken for them, two times they gobbled it up with no issues, third time everyone got the runs. Grrrrrr. And it was steamed so no bacteria, and it was organic chicken intended for human consumption. I just don't get it.

Well, for the first time since I found Instinct, I had a bad case.  AND/OR someone came home from the vet and brought sickness with them.

Result - clavamox twice a day for everyone.

There is some sneezing, but who can tell what from?  But the throwing up has stopped.

I hope everyone is recovering well. Are they still having diarrhea?

A bad case?  You mean that nobody will eat it or you actually think there's an issue with the entire case?  Man, I hope everyone is feeling all right.  How worrisome.

We upgraded the clavamox to zpack.  Everyone seemed to be doing great, until early this morning, someone threw up.  Sad  I hope it was just a one off.

August, the consistency of the food went from a firm meatloaf to almost soup, and the consistency was a fine pate, instead of the grainy meat it should be.  However, the symptoms aren't that of a food poisoning, so it may actually have been a bug Miss Lilly picked up somewhere along the line, that is contagious.  Which makes me mad at the vet, because I took her in for the coughing and the vet said it was probably a hair ball.  I think it was a URI.   Undecided

Fingers crossed that the zpack takes care of it and this morning’s vomit was a one-off. Blergh on the food issues! I don’t understand how the consistency of food can change so much from batch to batch.

Merrihart, I actually had this same issue with my Instinct canned food.  I spoke to someone at the store (in Japan) about it and was told that because it is made from all natural ingredients, the consistency can change depending on the particular produce.  Sometimes my canned Instinct was super soupy with what looked like ground meat in it (this is the consistency they used to prefer - I could literally pour it out of the can onto a plate), and other times it was juice-less and like the firm meatloaf you mention (even smushing it and mixing it wouldn't change the texture, and adding water just made it kind of pasty).

I find that now that we're eating freeze-dried raw, that the consistency of the rehydrated food can change dramatically by the lot.  (And that hasn't been a problem.)  I guess it's like buying a bunch of apples and some of them might be sweet and some of them might be tart.

Glad to hear everyone seems to be doing better.  I wouldn't worry much about the one morning barf!  <3

Apparently, Z-pack causes heartburn, so it was ok.

I'm still hearing sneezes, but no coughing.  I think the cats are passing it back and forth Sad
