Wow, first you were spoiling the cat, now the slugs too?? Grin

The slugs got some more food since he wouldn't eat much of his last can of Wellness turkey and salmon.  I am feeding him some good stuff, since I don't know what he usually eats and if he has problems with grains.  Since he is fussy, I think he is well-fed overall.  Another neighbor saw him hanging around and said he hangs out at her house, too.  She doesn't know where he lives, but said I shouldn't worry about him being hungry.

I know one thing he eats - squirrels!  I was absolutely horrified today to open my blinds and see him trotting into my yard from the woods with a poor, dead squirrel hanging from his mighty jaws.  Tongue

I think he ate it under a [edited] in my yard.  Tongue Tongue Tongue  DH said that he has seen him bring game out of the woods before, too.  I didn't know he was getting animals that big.  I'm going to be extra careful about him tangling with Poco.  The neighbor's Golden warned me just the other day with some sharp barks that Detente was headed into the yard when Poco was out with me as I got the mail and had my back to the woods.  He was headed straight for Poco, it looked like.

Another reason I do think this cat has a home is that I have called for it at night, but it is always gone after dark.

He has a perch now where he can see into the kitchen at dinnertime:

Looks scary here, but it wasn't really dark - just bad photography:

I love the photo of Detente sunning himself!  He looks relaxed, yet alert.  He is a handsome boy.

He looks as though he specifically posed himself for that rock picture!  (I don't think I'd worry too much regarding Poco.  I don't think he would perceive Poco as prey.  Squirrels are another story--I've seen cats with squirrels almost as big as they are.)

I've calmed down since the squirrel display.  Maybe that is his way of telling me I better feed him what he likes.  Wink

Catbird, I think you are right about him not confusing Poco with prey.  He seems like a very intelligent cat, and quite sensitive.  I'm sure he's already had more opportunities than I know to predate Poco if he wanted to.

He sure has sharp claws, though.   Shocked  One day when he was all excited about the Grammy's Pot Pie, he stood up and put his front paws on by legs and gripped my slacks with his claws.  Yow!  Huge, strong claws and they got hooked on the denim.  But I was able to carefully lift the claws out and free them.  No blood drawn, either, and he did not freak out or panic.

So he is smart and well-socialized.

Poco, denim has become my fabric of choice for wearing around the house, since it usually protects me from careless claws, and doesn't show the remnants of claw encounters so much. Grin

Détente finally showed up again.  I offered him some Tiki cat sardine awhile ago and he looked at me like he was greviously offended and has been scarce since then.  I saw him once a few days ago, but he was acting like he was scared of something and just ran through the yard.

Finally, he showed up and I gave him his favorite, the Grammy's Pot Pie, and he ate it all.  I noticed it looks like he had a little injury to his ear, so maybe that is why he has been missing.

Hmm, maybe he is an unneutered boy.  Or maybe he got into a territorial fight with an unneutered boy.  Or one of his squirrels!  Good to see he's back and looking as well-fed and sleek as ever.  I was wondering about him the other day.

Cheesy  Funny you should say that...he looked like he had put on weight to me so I do think that is true.

Petslave, I was worrying about him, too.  He seems like such a nice cat and even though I am sure he enjoys his freedom, I wish he didn't have to be encountering all the dangers there are outside.  It could have been a squirrel or rat that got his ear.  It looks like it is pretty well healed, at least.

Detente does look in fine fettle. I too hope he stays safe on his excursions.

With that tattered ear, he could have been out carousing.  I was wondering about him, too, since you hadn't posted anymore updates.  He does look in good shape and well fed.   Tongue  Wonder if he is intact.

Wish you could snatch him for a vet appointment and possible neuter. Life on the outside is tough enough for these guys without having other intact males fighting for territory.

He looks quite beautiful. Bless you for giving him his most favorite food again . . . I'm sure he appreciates it.
