I don't really know what his name is. He is a big free-roamer that lives in the neighborhood. Détente is the state we live in together sharing the land. We don't get too friendly since I'm afraid of him getting 'friendly' with Poco. This is the closest I have ever gotten to him and I don't think he knew what to make of it. Peek-a-boo! (There's that silly human...she never sees me. What the.....? She's headed this way with a weapon!!!) DEMON EYES! (That'll scare the living daylights out of the ninny.) (She's not budging. What am I going to do?......) You bold wench!

What a beautiful cat! I love black kitties. Does he have a home? He looks well-fed and healthy.

He always looks well-cared for. I'm pretty sure he lives a block below me from watching his rounds. I don't think it's safe for him to be roaming, but he's been at it since at least 2004.

He is quite handsome! I, too, worry about roaming cats ~ so many dangers. There's one tiger boy who roams the neighborhood, although I believe he's feral. He's getting so thin, I worry about him. I've tried feeding, to try and trap him and at least get him neutered and vetted, but the only critters who get the food are the raccoons and oppossums. (Kinda funny to see a big fat raccoon try to hustle out of a smallish cat shelter)
I hope that Detente's people reconsider letting their boy outside unsupervised!

He's beautiful, klondike. He probably knows all the rounds, so He will probably be alright, I hope.

Ooh, what a dramatic kitty! Such a strong-looking guy! Love the eyes! He does seem well-cared-for, but I hope he will be safe roaming loose like that.

It's good that he has a home but how crazy that his owner lets him wander the neighborhood. I would be terrified my cat would be hit by a car, attacked by another animal, poisoned, grabbed by some mean person or just snatched by someone who thought he was a pretty cat and wanted to keep him.

That's a miniature panther! I shudder just thinking of that beautiful cat free-roaming and crossing roads! I also hope that her owners will see the light and keep her indoors.

What a magnificent animal! I do love black cats, and used to have one that looked something like that, with the gold eyes. I too worry about that kitty roaming around like that.

Beautiful cat. The owners should keep him at home so he's safe if he does have an owner.

I finally ran into one of the neighbors the other day and remembered to ask about 'Détente'. They said they think he, (and I actually am only assuming it is a he), has a home on the block below us. But they weren't sure where. But yesterday something odd happened. I have lived here since 2004 and he has been hanging around periodically the whole time so I know his patterns of movement pretty well. I was looking out the front window after Poco and the hubby had hurried off the woods for a walk. A little while later, I saw this cat walking straight up the walkway to the front door. He has never done this before. He was moving low to the ground, like he was on a furtive mission. I went to the front to since I was going to go outside and see what he was up to, but was shocked to see that the front door was OPEN and Détente's mission was obviously to sneak inside. We were both shocked and he quickly darted off to the right and disappeared. He must have been waiting for an opportunity like that for a long time! I had just cooked some lamb for Poco, so maybe that is what he was after. I just wonder if he REALLY does have a home, though. I'm going to ask another neighbor. I do have a can of Fromm cat food that I decided not to try on Poco after all, so maybe I'll put that out somewhere next time he is hanging around. One can won't make him dependent. I just don't want to make him sick by giving him something he's not used to, so maybe that is not a good idea.

Poor Detante! I think it was the smell of the cooking that was irresistable and even a well-fed cat will sometimes be opportunistic when it comes to food. I hope he does have a home, though!

Maybe he liked the smell of Poco's dinner better than what was on the menu at home...pretty bold, though. If he's been around for 4 years, my guess is that he probably does have a home somewhere nearby. BTW Klondike, that is how Phantom came to live with us. She walked in an opened door.

Interesting! I hope he does have a home. I've seen cats with homes investigate any and all possible food options.....
