Really slow for me most of the time now.  Find myself not even bothering to post as it takes to long to view and post.  Oh well.

Yeah, apparently there has been an increase in traffic in the last couple days... which is taxing our server.  Even after the upgrade, the problem persists.  It seems that the blogging software we are using just isn't scaling very well, particularly the database so even upgrading the server doesn't help that much.  I'm looking around for fixes but I'm seeing a lot of sites with similar problems out there.

Since I'm not an expert in databases, it could take a while to pinpoint the problem.  Anybody know any MySQL gurus out there?

Regarding the bold font... it looks like it was an IE issue.

It looks like the style for posts relied on an implicit font weight and there may have been some sort of style/html nesting issue that IE wasn't interpreting correctly.  I don't know what caused it, but I went in and explicitely specified the font weight and my IE looks normal now.

Please let me know if this has worked for anyone else!

Now I get another problem trying to get to the forum.  I get an error type message saying something about google api maps instead of the forum coming up.   Huh

Happened to me too, assume it happened to everyone else to. Something about the google api key being registered to another web site. Not sure what all that means, but it just came back up

Well looks like you guys can post again... i think i managed to tune a couple things, but not sure it'll have much effect.  We have been getting a lot of traffic the last two days... still just the beginning of our growing pains unfortunately!

Maybe someone can help with this...I'm not getting any of my notifications on threads I'm watching.  In the profile sections on "notifications and email" it shows I have 5 or 6 threads that I'm watching, but then scrolling down it says "you're not receiving any notifications right now".  When I go to the specific post and click "notifiy" it says "do you want to disable notifications"?  I don't get it because I used to get email notifications of the threads I'm subscribed to. Huh

Any ideas would be appreciated. Grin

So last night I found about 75 dead messages on the server due to a misconfiguration in the e-mail settings.  DOH!  Hopefully it's working better after the changes I made last night???

Can someone tell me if they see my email icon in my posts?  I have my profile checked no email visible, but I can still see it.

Thanks

kittymom

YOU are the only one that sees your email icon, just like you are the only one that sees the remove and modify next to your post. It is sort of confusing for new folks. If you have your email hidden, as you do, then you can rest assured that no one else sees it. hope this helped.
