Maybe the lenght of time someone has been a member could be factored into the specs to sort out spammers

Good idea, you should write Itchmo and mention it. I have no power or say so over who or what goes on here, just to make that clear. Just wanted everyone to know to hide their email address, and that today we found an honest to goodness internet spammer logging in and viewing everyones profiles.

I don't track usage or new people or any of that, in fact haven't been here for months, whatever, just really surprised to see all the newbies that don't post. Might make for interesting reading in more of you did, we all have something to say, new ideas are always welcome.

I think that poster they were talking about was a just registered person that was checking a lot of profiles out.

I don't think they are running a make on everyone's IP addresses.  Right?

**Looks like db cleared that up before I posted.

No one can check your IP, but they can get your email address if you don't hide it. The newbie in question didn't hide theirs and I was able to find out that they are a know internet spammer. Probably didn't hang around long enough to check the profile options.

Anyway once they have a legitimate email address they can send spam mail to and from it, by spoofing the email host, if anyone wants the details on how to do this, send me a PM, and then of course I will be happy to report you to the proper authorities. Grin

Thanks for clarifying that, db.  I am sure now that if anyone had any privacy concerns, they are laid to rest.  Smiley

I too recently found the "who's on-line" and actually have found quite a few topics that are a good read now---some are from way back and some just didn't get on "my radar" to read....but I too see many guests looking at our profiles---some more than others!  I also have an idea who may be from maybe pet food co's based on what topics are being scrutinized----recently there were 19 guests on one thread---maybe a conference room full of rep's all having a good read! You all just crack me up!  I don't post much yet because I haven't had anything to offer.  The last couple of days I wasn't able to spend much time here, so of course I missed this post.  Yep, got a spam email that I didn't open.  I pm'd poor JustMe to check if I was hidden.  Not.  I really thought that I had hidden it.  Oh well.  Thank you JustMe for your patience!  And thank you to all of you who brighten my day!

Trudy is at 506.  See, I was right!  Watch out for 500!
