looks like the number is back down now (if I'm looking in the right place).  must have been computer generated?

I just came on tonight and had a strange thing happen.  I don't know if it has anything to do with what happened earlier, but I thought I would report it here.  I got an e-mail that mentioned Itchmo that appears to be from or related to a member here.  The problem is, the e-mail came to an e-mail address that I DID NOT use to register here.  It is one that my husband and I use for personal e-mails.  I am concerned about this, but don't know what to do.  Did anyone else get strange e-mails today?  I am going to send a PM to the member whose name appears on this e-mail just to let her know what happened.  I don't think SHE did anything wrong, but I want her to know about it.  Please post if you have had any strange e-mails today.  Thanks.

The mystery has been solved, and I apologize for my "nervous" reaction to what happened.   It had nothing to do with what happened earlier on the forums, fortunately.  I really thought it was a hacker too, lesliek.
Apparently, I had communicated with a member here some time ago and used the other e-mail address and did not remember doing that.  She had saved it and used it to send a message.  It was not a nasty message or anything like that.  I was just concerned because it mentioned Itchmo and I was puzzled as to why it came to that other e-mail address.  I usually don't use that address for anything except personal e-mail to family and friends.  Sorry again if I upset anyone here.  All is well!   Cheesy

MANY MANY Thank you's from me!!!
You deserve a break! I dont know how you were dealin with all the bickering, critisizing, and complaining that was going on from a few, constantly.
I admire you for putting up with it as long as you did. Several folks here seemed to really take this site for granted.

That being said......
I feel like MOST people here were and ARE truly grateful and appreciative of you and all you do, and have done.....

Thank you all for so much that you have done!!!

I've noticed a huge increase in the number of guests for a couple of weeks now.  We have gotten some new posters, but not nearly as many as one would think with all the guests.  I've really been wondering what has attracted so many to the forums just to look.  We'd love them to contribute.

I have noticed this increase, too.  My guess is that the number of guests the past week or so has to do with the haitus on the main Itchmo blog  (as opposed to the weird happening all of a sudden on 3/18, which was clearly computer generated.)  It seems likely that people who read the blog regularly are now reading here instead.  But yes, it would be wonderful if they would like to join the conversation!

I think it's the back button reaction.  The newbies are finding us from both Ichmo and just browsing the Internet, most likely out of some concern for a pet, only to read through the first 4 or 5 recent pages to find all the posts that are political bashing and fear mongering and then they get all confused because they thought they were on a pet forum and just reacted by hitting the back button to get out of here.

I've been staying away myself, just visiting long enough to check out the actual pet-related posts.

Hope we aren't scaring away people who want to talk about their pets.   Embarrassed

Can't wait for November to come and go.

When I posted that earlier-there was a sudden and rising number--almost thought 'ole aaaashoes was back! Grin  It was a steady climb up to 130something!  I actually went out and did a Yahoo page check to make sure nothing was going on! LOL...Maybe the Menu Foods mediation news brought some over too..

I think what scares off potential new posters is seeing members personally bash other members or their posts.
