After being stunned by the first anniversary with still so much to do, now am stunned
but understand why Itchmo is taking a break after much hard effort. There is a group
here that understands it's far from over, whether the class action suits settle in the
next short time period or not. So for one, am looking for suggestions, in addition to
still posting on these forums, of places to go with coherent programs for long-term
change to commercial pet food.
Defend Our Pets is one. Consumers Union is another. Where else?
Petitionz.org is another. From what I understand, TrustPetCuisine.com launches March 20 in Canada. The net proceeds from TrustPetCuisine are going to fund a program for random pet food testing (similar also from what I understand to the consumer site that tests and has memberships - details are supposed to be realized in the next few weeks) and an alert system (North America from what I understand, not just Canada).
With Defendourpets on one hand with AAFCO & other topics, and Petitionz with the random pet food testing the PFCs should take note.
It has taken a long time, and pet owners have not really joined up in large numbers to form a coherent group pushing forward. It takes a lot of networking. We can't just sit back and think a couple or 4 people are going to make this happen. They need support. Financially and from tasks & helping promote/advertise. Every little bit helps.
PFI paid attention with the volume and topics here before. It's quietened.
The energy of pet owners now has to be in forming a coalition or the pfcs will ride out the last before interest wanes further.
Contact petitionz, defendourpets, karen frazer and ask.. What can I do?
Spring & yard sales are an excellent time to clean house & earn extra mowing yards, washing windows, selling things to raise funds for Petitionz random testing and to help Mike further his efforts with AAFCO.
