I'm always the one with the tech questions, I know. I tried to start a new topic by copying from a word document previously typed today. It's rather long. It apparently went on the clipboard, but would not transfer with Control + V. I also tried right clicking to open up the box with the paste option, but that moved my cursor off the posting area, and if I moved it back, the box disappeared. Yikes! DH can't help me today, too busy at work. Anyone have any insight into this?

I have a vague recollection that some posts are too long? Should I try this in sections?

MS word puts in all kinds of characters, to copy something from word, you should first, save it as a txt file and accept that some formatting will be lost. then open the text file and copy and paste that into the post.

that should work

Thanks, db, I think I will wait for DH to come home because, (gulp), I have no idea what a text file is or how to save to one....

If you paste it into WordPad from MSWord that may take care of the problem when you again copy and paste to the forum.

Thanks, Mary, I'm keeping that in mind for when I actually learn it. DH just helped me post and he flipped around so fast my head is spinning.... text was in there somewhere....

Glad it got worked out.  I have trouble copying and pasting once and awhile, too.  I have no idea why it happens, but it is like the buffer is just not picking up the text, (or usually a link), that I want to paste.  I just try it several times until it works.  Big mystery, really.

depends on what you are copying, web pages can have all kinds of embedded scripts, so what you are looking at may not be what you want to copy, many characters are not compatible with the target copy too.
