we have been called much worse, no matter, we are what we are.

We have been in rescue over 25 years, don't remember how many anymore, have lots of urns with ashes in them. they literally keep us alive, on schedule, awake, alert, always trying to outwit us. So it is really a 2 way street here, we all need each other.

I used to think that anyone doing anything weird was weird. I suddenly realized that anyone doing anything weird wasn't weird at all and it was the people saying they were weird that were weird.

I'm happy to see I've stirred something up (hairball perhaps). Today happens to be the first provincial holiday in February here where I live (Louis Riel Day they called it). So, seeing how I wasn't at work, I had a good slice of Itchmo and it got me thinking, that's all. I'm the last person to spew out PC speak, but I really don't like the idea that our furry family members are seen, in the eyes of the law, as personal property. If I didn't have my cats, I could care less if my house burned down. They are not "things." They are my babies and I protect them the best I can.

Just wanted to see if anyone agreed with me. No offense to Itchmo. I love this place.

I am sure no offense was taken.  It is an interesting topic.  I never noticed the 'pet owners' on the blog header.  If they have a vote, I think I'd opt for 'pet lovers' myself.  You can tell from db's post that that is what it is all about for us.  And I like 'pet lovers' because it does include that community of people that love pets but can't be totally responsible for a pet because of financial or health issues.

Second proposal for a change in terminology: all the wonderful stakeholders
that we have all come to know and "love" for their lack of concern or
interest in nutrition should be more honestly called "steakholders."
