Gonna post a link to download a little utility I've had on my system for a long time.  It will show you exactly what's on your system--hardware and software.  It shows you in detail what the Update numbers for any Microsoft downloads you've taken are, when you downloaded them and whether they are working properly.

The tool will open a new window and give you the results.  None of this information goes back to Belarc--the utility can be run offline as well.  Don't use this normally unless there's a problem--am always glad it's there when there is.

Our computer has been wonky since the lights flickered a few days ago and it briefly went into hibernation. Today it doesn't want to turn the pages, it either doesn't do it, or does it incredibly slowly. So if I vanish today, that's why. Darned machines!

catwoods,
Mine (computer) was working really slow last night too. The hard drive kept grinding away at something and my anti-virus program (full-test) was hardly running. So this morning I did a reboot and now it is working  normal again. Maybe that would help your computer too.

Thanks, Mary, rebooting has helped with some things, but not others. This morning a message box said it couldn't load our personal desktop settings. Rebooting did change that. But it hasn't changed the new message box that says "After Dialing Terminal" after we click dial-up. We found we have to click "Done" within this frame to connect now. Strange! As soon as I posted this, the page turning got faster, of course....just to be contrary.

Does anyone know why it was down?

Why do cats always jump on your lap with their claws out?  Especially when you are wearing shorts?

I don't know what happened, but I was looking to see if other sites got attacked the past couple of days and saw this:

http://security.itproportal.com/articles/2008/08/08/olympics-has-started-and-so-have-hackers/

http://www.thecolororange.net/uk/page211

So it looks like China's Olympic site got hacked, but not human rights activists sites that are critical of China.

However the Olympics were used as 'cover' by garden variety hackers.

Hurray!  We're back.  Finally.  Thought for awhile I'd have to go looking for a 12 step program or support group for recovery. Smiley

I posted this in the off-topic section in another thread, but thought it would be good to post it here in this thread too:

I was sooo lost without itchmo and glad that it is back. I created a new 'place' where we can all meet when/if itchmo goes down again - just to keep in touch - not a place to post when itchmo is here. PM me if you want the link.

Thank you Itchmo for getting us back online.  Went out here on Friday evening; made my day having it back this AM!
Withdrawl symptoms were getting really bad..... now I can be happy for the rest of the day!
