I have been corresponding with a woman in New Jersey who pulled 22 "unadoptable" cats and mostly kittens from the Staten Island Animal Control. They are euthanizing large numbers of cats and mamas/kittens for space reasons. She has had several sickies, babies to bottle feed and one special boy, Talan, a beautiful big black boy who somehow got overlooked at the shelter.  He was adopted, then returned a few days later because he was sick (URI, I think).  Within a month he had lost quite a bit of weight, no one noticed that he wasn't eating.  The woman is covering all the costs of the medical care herself (by selling off a doll collection on ebay), although she's getting help from a local rescue group with spay/neuter and taking the healthy ones to their adoption events.  If she can get some help with finances Talan will be getting a feeding tube as he is starting to have some liver issues.  She knows this will have to be done soon.

My question is does anyone know of organizations or individuals who will help this woman with the medical costs?  I am sending her what I can and hope others who hear her story will also help out.  I have seen pictures of the rescues and they are all beautiful cats and kittens deserving of a chance to grow up and have a good home.

Please contact me if you have any ideas for helping out here.  She sent me the name, address and phone number of her vet so I could send the money there so I believe she's legitimate!

Please help if you can.

There are a number of cat assistance links on the Feline Outreach site:

Thank you so much.  I have emailed Lorri with the information.  She has decided to go ahead and schedule the feeding tube for Talan and pay for it as she can.  I hope his liver issues are reversible ~ or at least manageable.  Again, many thanks to you.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have checked out a couple of assistance web sites (organizations) but they are not accepting applications at this time.
I will continue to persue suggestions as time permits

If anyone is interested in helping directly with Talan's medical costs, and the kittens, you can send a donation to my vet.

my name is Lorri McColgan and donations can be marked for cat/kitten rescue or Talan, and I thank anyone who donates for this great cat and these wonderful kittens.

Many of the heathly kittens can be seen at Bridgewater, NJ Petsmart on saturdays, they are sponsored by HAL, homeless animal lifeline. This rescue has offered it's assistance in placement, spay/neutering/vaccines of some of the rescue pets.

I will also be running some ebay auctions starting this weekend to help with the funding as well. Please email me for more information.
thank you to everyone who has emailed information, and all the prayers and moral support I am sure Talan is receiving from everyone's good thoughts.

For clarification, Feline Outreach is indeed accepting applications.

Like most not for profit organizations, we are limited by the donations we receive and we are always in need of donations.  Feline Outreach was formed in 2006-a charitable organization formed to promote the routine and medical care of companion animals, particularly cats.

Prayers for a continued recovery for Talan.

I went to the links on the feline outreach page, I did not realize it was more than that. It is a mute issue now anyhow.
Talan was euthanized because it was the last kindness I could do for him. He had further complications and he was suffering.

I would still be thrilled to accept any assistance for the additional 21 others I still have, many with health issues, though none as serious. I do have two that will be requiring surgeries also.

Please keep all these precious ones that were so callously disgarded in your prayers as well as the many that I can not rescue because I have no more room.

I thought I remembered seeing something on Itmo about funding help so I did some digging.  Hope this helps.

I'm having problems posting the attachment so have added it to this message so you know where to find it if the attachment doesn't take.
