Girl is very pretty and feminine. 2 walks a day will keep everyone in good shape. That is one of the reasons we are healthier if we have pets.

Girl is a beautiful little dog and it sounds like a perfect match. Good job all the way around!! May they have many, many years together. Congratulations!! I'd love to see more pictures.
OT: Don't go to Petfinder so much anymore because I worked for two years as a katrina reunion volunteer and got so burned out by so many sad stories. While I was looking at Girl, I checked the message boards and there are still people trying to find their pets or their owners. OTOH, there are people in the central US dealing with floods who left their animals home to die. Do we never learn?
I avoid petfinder in general, but do check the links I get on the Dal rescue lists. Looking for beagles and doxies for my parents totally sucked me in. One of the rescues had an adorable deaf Dal that I sent to my mom and she actually considered it for a moment, lol!~ When I talked to her on the phone while she was checking out her options, she had all the dog's names and stories down. I have a friend who fostered a katrina pup which she ended up adopting. This was months after they gave the go ahead to let the dogs be adopted because she wanted to be sure an owner wasn't looking. It was a young (6 mos?) mix. I just met a woman Sunday when I was walking Dot who also had a Katrina dog. It's heartbreaking how that went down and even worse that folks are still looking. There were folks on the Dal list for the longest time trying to help a guy get his Dal back. The pup was known to be rescued . . . . but after that . . . I think there's still some slack that can be given to folks in the central US that may have "left" their pets at home. We're not always home when this crap happens (I was home during the earthquake, but not the heatwave blackout). I do think the animal agencies are handling it better and it is a recognized issue now. A start at least. Hopefully?

Isn't she She's afraid of my dad, but he's very gentle, so I think it will be fine. The walks are good. Mom swims a couple times a week and does enjoy walking with dogs. Dad can walk as long as the dog is good on the leash, which she is. Right now she's just unsure with the change, so Mom's in charge. She did let Mom clip her nails and likes to be brushed. Mom's happy she can clip her nails as Ben wasn't cool with it! Apparently she was pretty casual and relaxed about the whole thing

Wow, that is really great that she did a nail trim already. We gave up trying to Poco's. Too much drama. There is a nice guy at the vet clinic that Poco gets on with just fine - Jacob.

Thanks! Yeah, Mom has most of the books I use for diet and training (it was her Mother's Day present one year cause she had said she wanted to know some of the stuff I was doing ) so she's in good hands. The food she's been eating isn't my/their choice, but they are keeping her on it for now, just feeding less. Apparently, her coat is in great condition and she's super soft, so the food seems to work for her. Mom said they had a bowl of food down for her and she didn't eat it all, so part of her weight may be lack of activity. I don't think we've ever had a dog in our family that didn't clean a bowl, lol!~

I was thinking it was really great also as I live with a bunch of drama queens when it comes to nails! Ben, her beagle at the bridge, would get his nails cut at the groomers or when he was sedated (for other reasons) at the vet. Mom's words: "She just laid there and let me do it." WTF?! Dogs do that?! I want one!!! Ok, off to walk the Dot and then catch some shut eye
