"In Stockton, shelter workers recently reunited a family with two rottweilers they had left behind in their foreclosed house. The family was staying in a homeless shelter, the dogs being cared for by neighbors at the family's behest. Shelter workers were able to find housing for the family and their dogs.

But happy endings elude a majority of foreclosure animals.

"Their best shot is for the owners to plan ahead some," Jennings said. "But they didn't plan when they bought their house. I don't see that happening anytime soon.""

That is just amazing how much those shelter workers helped that family out.  But that was a basically responsible family since they did set up care for the dogs they had to leave behind.  Not the best situation, but it was something.  I have seen foreclosure where people just leave their pets abandoned with the piles of junk in their front yard and take off.  People like that are the lowest of the low.

(Actually the lowest are the ones that hide the pets in the house so they starve.)

They just had a story on this topic on Seattle's KING5 news.  (Actually this story was not just about abandoned animals, but about the entire pet displacement situation.)  Even though the foreclosure situation is better in this area than others, the shelters are still filling up with displaced pets.  One of the victims they showed was a handsome 1yr old red pit bull named Romeo.

Rents are going up here, too, and pets are being displaced when renters must move to cheaper housing.  They mentioned that the Seattle shelter does offer boarding to assist pet owners in transition.

This is one bubble that is causing real suffering.

Oh, arlo,a big  Thank you for what you are doing.
I just got home from a petsmart I don't usually go to. It's 2 hours away. they had so many older, big dogs that no one wanted. A foundation was there, trying to place them. poor things.
We have dogs now running up and down the road, cats too. i have to find out which ones have  a home and which ones don't.
