These pets are at the SPCA. I had to go there on Fri. and pick up some bengal kittens. The 2 little Chi dogs are 6 and are terrified, but very friendly. The white kitten is looking for a home, this place gasses the animals. And the Tux is front declaw and nuetered. He's so sweet. Not many people around here want declaw cats? This whole thing broke My heart. Even My husband was bothered all day. He went into the back and saw a lot of old dogs We know just don't have a chance. Too too sad.

I can't imagine these animals NOT finding homes. They are precious.

Trudy,

Bless you for doing work that makes you aware of these needs.  You have to be very brave to see these things 'up close and personal.'

Would the shelter mind if you posted contact info, or a link if they have a web site?  Cats and small dogs are acceptable to more landlords than big dogs, so maybe someone in the area would be interested if we posted links here and there.

Maybe even if someone didn't have the resources to commit to a pet long-term, they could foster them for awhile?

(Not meaning you, Trudy!  I know you have your hands full.)

Klondike, Good idea.

These animals are at -Chowan-Gates Animal Shelter-252-221-8514, I think the web site is under that name. Or they put them on pet finders.
PS- I helped start this shelter when I first moved to N.C. They didn't have one there.

Elizabeth City SPCA-NC- 252-338-5222- I don't know too much about this one, but they only hold animals for 3 days.

Bertie County -Animal control- The control officers' name is Skip. He's only there when someone calls. And to feed the animals. - Not a good place for pets- 252-794-5340- I don't even know if they advertise or not. i'm going to go over when I get a minute and look the place over.

PAWS -Hertford County animal shelter- 252-358-7861-They only keep pets for a few days too.

All of these shelters use the gas chambers.

This looks like their list.  Gee, the tux has(had) another cat with him that the owner had to give up, Puss.  Did you see her also, Trudy?  She's looks beautiful, too.  Cry

You made my day with that news. Don't know how anyone can resist the white kitten, either.

I think it's great that you can get into the middle of those situations. I can't hardly look online anymore because of knowing what happens to those who don't make it out alive.

I'm very glad to hear about the tux adoption, too.  Such a gorgeous cat!

I'm praying for the Chi's and the kitten still.  Those photos tear your heart out.
