Bonniedale Farm
1007 Snake Hill Road
Glocester, Rhode Island
401-568-0339

In an effort to give back to the community for all the support he is receiving in the quest to save the farm, Dan has decided to open a community food bank for pets.

Recognizing that there are many people experiencing hard times, Dan is making dog and cat food as well as flea/tick products available to those who may not be able to afford them, with the goal being for people to be able to keep their beloved pets as opposed to having to surrender them to a shelter because they are unable to afford pet food.

People are welcome to come and obtain food on a donation, pay-what-you-can-afford basis.  All proceeds will be returned to the food bank to purchase items that can not be obtained via donation.

As a distributor of grain and because Bonniedale Farm is a 501c3 charity, Dan has been able to leverage supplier relationships to obtain donated food and other items to stock the community food bank for pets.  Special thanks go to Purina, Merrick, Milk Bone and others.

The food bank is open during regular farm hours:

Monday-Saturday 6 am - 6 pm and Sunday 6 am -5 pm

Please check this one, two weeks ago allegedly  Bonniedale's farm owner went into bankruptcy.  The RISPCA took most of the farm animals to other farms.

"I just wanted to tell everyone that there is a pet food bank at Bonniedale Farms on Snake Hill Road. The easiest way to get there is if you take 44 (Putnam Pike) to Smith Ave in Greenville, (go left at the red light after Newport Creamery) and just keep driving straight onto Snake Hill Rd, (through the stop sign past Knight Farm) and stay straight until you come to Bonniedale on the right. The man's name is Danny, and he's super nice. He has a store where he sells all kinds off cool stuff, and tons of cat and dog food that he gives away free. You can go anytime between 9 and 6, and don't have to call first. 568-0339."

Update-

http://www.arlsri.org/services-and-programs/pet-food-pantry/

http://www.arlsri.org/contact-information/

The Animal Rescue League operates a pet food pantry in collaboration with The Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale. Pets have become the unwitting victims of foreclosures and lowered incomes, so this service will provide "free" pet food to qualifying individuals. We hope the community will join with us in helping support this service. Our pet food pantry program currently serves an average of 50 families per month and distributed more than 600 vouchers in 2012.

Since we are privately funded we are seeking donations of pet foods, both canned and dry, for all animals. Your support in this program means so much to so many. On behalf of the animals we can keep into a home through the pet food pantry, and the folks who need this service from ARL, we express our very deepest gratitude.
Please contact us for details.

Johnston Sun Rise March 26, 2010

"Started by volunteers working at the Scituate Animal Shelter in 2006, Hands that Heal is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide aid for people in need, primarily the elderly, in caring for their pets. Volunteers from the organization have been working with several Johnston seniors, referred by social worker Heidi Ross from the Johnston Senior Center.

"Once an individual is identified as being in need of services, Hands that Heal meets with the individual to assess their situation. Services have included providing pet food, veterinary care, spaying and neutering, as well as foster care for the pet, if needed.

"With the economy the way that it is, the volume of requests for our services has increased 100-fold,” she said. “We have a lot of clients from Johnston that we help with their animals.”

"Donations of money, pet food and pet supplies are always welcome, as well as donations of time."
