As I recall, plastic found in pet food has been discussed here several times, too. Sounds like it could show up in just about anything. I bet as the economy continues to go down the tubes, and manufacturers cut expense corners with less maintenance and replacement of equipment, we will see more and more of things like this.

I agree. With the worsening economy and higher transportation costs, a lot of companies will be cutting even more corners at the consumer's peril. Gotta stretch those profit margins! So, what is safe? You buy processed, packaged food and you worry. You buy fresh produce or meat and you worry. You eat at a restaurant and you worry.
It looks as if people in the U.S. either have to go on a perpetual fast or grow their own. How long will we allow third world country standards to be what we seem to strive for here?
These recalls are so frequent that we assume them to be the norm now, especially after 2007, the Year of the Recalls. We consumers should not put up with what is thrown at us in supermarket shelves without raising a fuss and firing off some letters to officials.
