AP article titled "Alabama Company Issues Recall of Hot Dogs"; ".....voluntarily recalled 28,610 pounds of hot dogs shipped to five Southern states because the meat may be contaminated with a dangerous bacteria.

"R.L. Zeigler issued the recall after an Inspector in Atlanta found a single package contaminated with Listeria monocytenes.....

"Food safety officials said no one has reported any health problems linked to the meat.

"...sent to food service institutions and stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee."

The exact labeling and numbers of the recalled items are listed at the link.

(I don't eat hot dogs myself but someone who reads the forum might.)

Mods let me know if it is not OK to quote that much from an AP article, and I will edit. I'm hoping brief quotes fall under "reasonable use".

I do not eat hot dogs (57 variety meat) either. But remember Listeria only effects 2,600 people a year according to the experts. Is this just another scare tactic to make people want to have the 5 different kinds of fungus applied to all cold cuts and deli products? No thanks, you can keep your fungus to yourselves and eat it, eat it, eat it.
