General Mills Issues Voluntary Class One Recall Involving One Day's Production of Progresso Hearty Tomato Soup (October 31)
Mon, 03 Nov 2008 11:32:00 -0600

General Mills is voluntarily recalling a single day's production of Progresso Hearty Tomato soup because of a product labeling issue. Product produced on this date may have been mislabeled, and may contain allergens not listed on the ingredient label, specifically egg, milk, and soy.

***************

This is prob a perfectly legit reason as it's not unusual, but I find the ingredients interesting!

Thank you stray.
I too find the ingredients interesting, which is why I make almost all my own soups, especially tomato Undecided

What would egg be doing in tomato soup?  Unless it contains some sort of egg pasta?

Wheat Flour
Modified Corn Starch

??

Thickeners it appears.. but soy? eggs? milk?

Does the "real" label show any more ingredients than their ad?

The can apparently has the wrong label on it...

General Mills said a production error resulted in some cases of Progresso Light Vegetable and Noodle soup being mislabeled as Progresso Hearty Tomato soup.

Oh ick I would be upset if I opened a can of "tomato" soup and found that in it.  I do eat Progresso soups.

I usually keep some canned soup in for when I'm not here to cook. Just pulled out 2 cans of this to return. I don't care what dates are "safe",they are going back.

These recalls are like Deja vu for me. Each time I entertain the thought of maybe trying something other than the organic canned soup - voila - that product comes up with a recall. 6th sense works well when you listen to it. Thx for this, saved again!

Tomatoes are a big melamine metabolizer per the cyromazine residue tolerance listing.
