FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- April 21, 2009 – Torn & Glasser of Los Angeles, CA is recalling various products containing pistachios because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. These recalled pistachios, supplied by Setton Pistachio, were distributed to Torn & Glasser. Setton Pistachio has initiated a recall of pistachios for its entire 2008 crop as it continues to investigate the potential for its pistachios to be contaminated by Salmonella. In light of these developments Torn & Glasser is undertaking this recall.

... This product was distributed through wholesalers and cash customer sales. These were sold in CA, AZ, CO, TX, MO, MD, PA, HI, UT, NJ,NE, NV, NM, OK, IL and LA.

Cartons bearing Torn & Glasser case labels sold between September 01, 2008 and April 8, 2009 with Julian codes between 2448 and 3658 and 0019 and 0979 included in the recall are as follows:

Sheridan Fruit Company Recalls Bulk and Packaged Raw Pistachios

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- May 1, 2009 -- Sheridan Fruit Company of Portland, Oregon is recalling 12 oz. packages of Sheridan Fruit Company Raw Pistachio Meats, and Bulk Raw Pistachio Kernels sold between February 5th and March 30th, 2009 because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The products were sold at the Sheridan Fruit Company retail store in Portland, Oregon.

Raw Pistachio Kernels were sold bulk through self service bins labeled “Raw Pistachio Kernels – Product of California, Bin #945.

Raw Pistachio meats were sold in 12-ounce bags with the Sheridan Fruit Company logo and reads “Raw Pistachio Meats – Product of California USA” and has the bar code 0 00000 55700 9. There is no other specific identifying information on the package.

FDA Warns Consumers Not to Eat California Prime Produce and Orange County Orchards Brands of Pistachios
Products linked to the previous recall by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers not to eat California Prime Produce and Orange County Orchards brands of pistachios repacked by Orca Distribution West Inc., Anaheim, Calif. Orca received and repacked pistachios recalled by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc., Terra Bella, Calif.

The FDA visited Orca as part of its audit checks to follow up on Setton Pistachio’s recall. The FDA found that products subject to Setton Pistachio's recall had been repacked and distributed by Orca under the California Prime Produce and Orange County Orchards brands. Orca has not made a public announcement regarding these products. Therefore, the FDA is issuing this press release to alert consumers so that they can take appropriate action.

The products were distributed to retail locations in airports and hotels nationwide. The California Prime Produce and Orange County Orchards brands of pistachios were packaged in clear 6 ounce flexible plastic Ziploc bags, UPC Number: 8 10826 01116 2 with Sell By Dates of 7/30/09 and 8/30/09.

Hope this repackaging process isn't what happens to most recalled food products ...
at least they could re-roast the product before attempting to resell it in hopes of killing Salmonella Grin Angry Angry Angry
