Thanks 5CatMom.  I added your Kansas City Star link to that thread in Making a Difference and also DMS's Consumers Union petition.  (They are a genuine public interest group.)

Hope we can stop these safety rollbacks the USDA is trying to make.  I don't think we are anywhere near ready for that.

Thanks, Klondike.  Here's another one.  Please put it wherever it needs to be.

If this is already posted, I apologize.

Here's link to Mr. Stupak's committee.  Go to bottom of blue column on left and click "contact us".  Please be sure to thank them for the work they're doing.

Well, I had hissy fits over Greger's recalled beef inclusion in pet food statement in the links to several places and in some of the activist letters, and comments to Mr Stupak. and today I got an email from him "Just to clarify my position"

You'll not like part of what he said about the cats in UK... sigh, anymore than you'll like the comment about American dinner plates...

Quote
I personally think downer cattle should be excluded from the food supply of all animals, human and nonhuman, including exclusion from livestock feed and from what we feed our beloved companion animals. Over 80 cats died in Great Britain from a feline spongiform encephalopathy that they likely contracted from eating contaminated pet food. If we can’t even get the meat from downer cattle removed from American dinner plates, though, I imagine it will be a while before we’re able to protect our pets as well as our fellow citizens.

Thank you for your feedback,

Michael

Thanks, Offy.  Very upsetting.

Heinz is recalling their Boston Market brand frozen lasagne as it used beef from our favorite slaughterhouse!

I can't find the link right now though---I just heard it on CNN tv.

There was a statement made that a lot of this meat had been put into convenience foods/frozen foods so that's what's going to make this quite a large recall. How long does any convenience food keep from getting freezer burn especially when the HSUS stated their pvt video was I believe from 2 yrs ago? What did the companies do with the meat before the final processing into hot pockets etc - give it a bleach soak for a couple of days before freezing it to make sure any bacteria was killed off so no mold would show up?
