E. Coli Linked To Beef Now Reported In 5 States

E. coli linked to beef now reported in 5 states

ATLANTA - An E. coli outbreak traced to recalled beef in Michigan and Ohio has spawned cases in three other states, U.S. health officials said Tuesday.

New York, Kentucky and Indiana each have one lab-confirmed case of a bacterial infection that matches the 41 previously reported cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The outbreak has been traced to beef sold in Kroger supermarkets in Michigan and Ohio. The Kroger Co. last month recalled ground beef sold in Michigan and Ohio stores, then this month expanded it to include other states. Nebraska Beef Ltd. supplied the meat, ultimately recalling 5.3 million pounds of beef.

Here's another of Mr. Marler's (the Food Poisoning Attorney) websites:

"Twenty-one ill persons have been hospitalized. One patient has developed a type of kidney failure called hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS). No deaths linked to the outbreak have yet been reported. Twenty-five (57 percent) patients are female. Patients range in age from 4 to 78 years with a median age of 20 years."

My friends brother in CA. ate beef at a resturant the other night. He's been sick ever since. And can't stop having diareahha. I think He has food poisening, E coli Huh

Trudy,

Thise are signs of Food Poisoning. He needs to go to a Doctor. It could have been the Beef, but it could have been something else.

The reason I say this, is many times, healthy people are able to stave it off and it never gets reported until someone of immune compromised condition (Very old, Very Young, Cancer Patient) is hospitalized.

Your Friends Brothers illness could be from something as simple as cross contamination or poor restaraunt cleaning and Hygiene practices. Or, it could be a batch of bad meat. It won't be known until local Food Safety inspectors get involved. And even then, it may take looking at several cases to determine,

Trudy agree with Pat that he should go to a doctor at least if he's not planning on going to the hospital. If its related to the food thats one way to find out and repeated diarrehea will kill make you so weak and quite possibly kill a person.
