Maybe dumb question,,,,,, but why doesn't the CDC have to release the name of the plant or the name of the dog food products?  They have tested, found problems, but all they say is a plant in Penn? and that is all?  Anyone else find this odd,,,,,,or is it just me?

It was an April post, not a mistaken March post,,,,,,I know since I was watching it for a friend without computer.  I know you might call the company but I am not you.  It would be pointless since they know their deception and maneuvering.  The archive is not a mistake and it is a big deal,,,,,,Trying to bury news about rancid fat in food is just wrong. Everything else is in order and putting April before March considering what it contained doesn't keep their error as current as it should be.  Purina terming a recall as a retrieval,,,,,,sorry but calling the companies just gives any of them more room for spin.  Evangers did the same.    It was April news and should be current.  I am not in the mood any more for any more lies from pet food companies.  I've called and they just cya and just talk in circles.  If NV really cared about cats getting sick it would be the latest news like it was.

Just seems like Nature's Variety is trying to hide the problem with the cat food that people supposed to return if they bought.  Archiving information about food that could hurt your cat should be current.  At least news from April should appear right after the news from March.  Have no idea why anyone would trust them with anything.  Why do people still buy food from companies that do things like this?

Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr,,,,,,,the latest news is archived,,,,,that is what confused me and I did not even see the archive first at all and finally did.  Why is the news about the cat food problems archived when it is April news and March is the latest to see at the top.  Oldest archives first seems, but on the site the newest info is already archived.  Odd since it is about the QC and nonrecall on the cat food.  I just don't trust pet food companies any more.  This is like they are trying to hide the issue but still br able to say it is on the site,,,,,,but not in plain view and how it would make sense.

Yes and thank you!  I was trying to talk to someone about that and it isn't on their website any more that I could find.  I think I was going loopy.  I wonder why they took it away.  That just seems suspicious (? spell) to me.  Thank you again.

there has been a new recent news posted on NV website :  "Nature’s Variety has withdrawn distribution of Prairie Lamb Meal and Oatmeal Medley for Cats with the “best if used by” dates of 12/20/08 and 1/25/09."

"Please be assured, this withdrawal does not involve health risks to cats. At Nature’s Variety, we want to insure that all of our products meet our high quality standards. We have found the affected products to be unacceptable because to the following reasons.

    * The products with a “best if used by” date of 12/20/08 have an unacceptable level of oxidized fat. Oxidation may create an unusual odor. It is very likely that you will notice the smell immediately and that your cat would be sensitive to the smell and will not attempt to eat this food.
    * The products with a “best if used by” date of 1/25/09 have an unacceptable appearance – this kibble is quite crumbly and very dark in color. Again, this unusual appearance will likely be instantly evident to you, and it is unlikely that your cat would eat this food."

"The issues described here relate to our previously identified production challenges during late-2007 and early-2008. As explained previously, we have taken multiple action steps to continually improve and assure the quality of our products for your special pet. "

This is here from Itchmo.  Where is this and the oxidation about the fat stuff?
