Product Reviews and Discussions / Write A Pet Product Review / Re: The Best Cat Litter

The cat litter I use for Coconut and Matrix is plain ole wood pellets for pellet stoves. It comes in a 40lb bag and runs about $5.00. Some mfg are now labeling their package for the use with cats because it keeps the ammonia smell down. I have been using this for over 6 years and it's great! I never smell the box and it's all natural. This was another great item that Dr. Celeste Yarnall turned me on to. http://www.celestialpets.comAll you need is about 3 - 4 inches in the litter box. When the cats use it, it fluffs up and absorbs all the urine. Just empty it every 2 - 3 days. You will not believe how long a 40lb bags lasts and how much money you save! If the bag says "hard wood" do not use it. It will not absorb. Kevin.

Pet Behavior and Health Questions / Making Your Own Pet Food And Home Remedies / Re: RAW diet Supplements: Glandulars

do you know if there will ever be supplements without bone meal and organs? my felines get bone and organs in their ground, and my dog gets whole meat bone meals along with organ/fish/whatever meals. mixing the feline supp into ground with out bone for a few meals isn't much of an issue, but giving my dog a supplement with organ concentrate is (high in purines and don't know what organs and how much etc.) but in general, many raw feeders for canine in particular wouldn't need bone or organ in their mix. and feline feeders who shop through raw sources are generally accommodated there also. good for them for breaking out the info though Good question, I wish I could answer that. When I feed my cats raw with bones ground in the mix I have been instructed by Dr. Yarnall to use only half the amount of the VitaMineral Plus Feline supplements for the fact that now I have more bone meal. I am not sure if a product exists with your ingredients but I would highly recommend asking Dr. Yarnall that question. She may have an answer for you. Her email is listed below. General Pet Information / Pet News / Re: CA's Mandatory Spay/Neuter bill, AB1634
|
on: June 05, 2007, 02:31:59 PM

AB 1634 is just another bill to embezzle revenue from quality dog and cat breeders and nonprofit organizations that wish to provide and show these fine animals. This will do nothing against the criminals that breed animals for unscrupulous and despicable purposes. Take current gun laws for example. Removing guns from law-abiding citizens will not stop any criminal from obtaining one and committing a crime. So what provisions does AB 1634 provide to stop criminals from wrongfully breeding animals for their immoral purposes? Like any law, criminals will just ignore them. I believe the biggest criminals are the corporations and politicians who are trying to enforce this bill. I have read the pros and cons regarding health purposes. I truly believe that animal vets have been bought and are just salivating for this bill to pass. What a boost in profits when pet owners and businesses are FORCED to have their pets sterilized. I thought this was a free country? And then, if you wish to become a legitimate breeder you must pay to be registered. Maybe I missed it, but I read the cost is not cheap but have not seen the price yet. And I’m sure this will have to be paid annually with an increase each year. I know several quality breeders and there really is not much profit in this business by the time you take into consideration the shelter, food, vet bills, commuting and other expenses. Most enjoy providing a unique and quality animal for others to enjoy. But now, here comes AB 1634 to create another expense for legitimate breeders. I agree as stated in previous postings. This is nothing more than a criminal attack on our civil rights as hard working law-abiding citizens. If this continues, pretty soon you will only be able to purchase a pet from huge corporations with all the tax and licenses involved. Now, do I believe that there should be some controls over irresponsible pet owners who do not manage their pets and are truly part of the problem? Of course, but why is EVERYONE going to be punished with AB 1634? This is just one guys opinion. I also would like to thank all the previous posters for their expert research and information they have brought to this forum. Great Job!!! Pet Behavior and Health Questions / Making Your Own Pet Food And Home Remedies / Re: Looking for cat and dog food recipies I can make at home

Marimanu: First of all, if you read the complete recipe, you will see that the veggies listed are under “Optional Ingredients.” Cats can do very well without them. However, they are added primarily to provide fiber. Stop being so biased so you can promote your products. That is not what this forum is about. It's here to help educate people so they can find alternatives to the commercial pet food crisis. My objective was to present choices for those in need, not debate you. I make no profit in this. I just know that the regime I have chosen has been very successful for my pets and 10 generations of others. Can you make those same claims? If you do have issues or suggestions about the recipe Marimanu, I would advise you to contact Dr. Yarnall at Celestial Pets privately to discuss any concerns you may have. celestialpet@sbcglobal.net

Everyone has a recipe. There is no-one fix all recipe for your pets. Please do the research and consult with experts. Plenty of people will sell you products.
Although I have been accused at working too hard at feeding my pets, I will continue with the method I have chosen for the care of my animals. 10 generations of cats can't be wrong. I truly believe in Dr. Yarnall's proven methods. It does not matter to me which regime people use to replace the garbage the pet industry has been dispensing over the years as long as they find one that works for them and improves the health of their little fur babies. I only wanted to share the methods I use. Not debate who is right or who is wrong which is what these forums eventually turn in to.
I am glad to see that many people have finally woken up and are now investigating the alternatives to feeding their pets.
Good luck to all of you. My thoughts are with you and your pets.

I have been feeding my cats raw food for over 10 years. I make all my pets food from scratch using Celestial Pets products. Celeste Yarnall, PH.D. has a proven technology with her ten (10) generations of Tonkinese cats and can help you with this issue. Regarding bacteria in the meat, Grapefruit Seed Extract is commonly used to help sterilize the meat product prior to serving. Additionally, animals are highly resistant to bacterial infection, especially of the intestinal tract-IF they have been raised on the proper raw food diet. On Dr. Yarnall's web site, she has posted a cat and dog recipe you can use to help get you started. She also has many articles supporting her research on this subject. DO NOT FEED YOUR PETS COOKED FOOD! I wish all your pets a long and healthy life. I feel for each and every one of you who have had to rely on the commercial pet food industry and have been damaged by them. As you have read on this forum, there are many solutions to this dilemma. My animals have been on a raw food diet all their lives. No dry food, no commercial food and no fear of the commercial pet food industry. I receive my nutrients from Celestial Pets who have a proven track record with their ten (10) generations of naturally raised Tonkinese cats. Celeste Yarnall, Ph.D. has done her own research and has written two books on Natural Pet Care for dogs and cats. I would encourage all to review the research she has done so you can feed your pets a healthy and well balanced raw food diet. Cooking your pets food and dry food is not the answer. I wish each and every one of you and your pets the best during this crisis.
