1  Pet Food Info (Menu Foods, Iams, Purina, Hills, Ol'Roy, etc.) / Cat Food Experiences By Brand / Re: Orijen Cat Food on: December 01, 2008, 10:11:18 AM
Both of my cats have been on Orijen Cat since it came out in Canada. They are 18 and 12. They've just had their annual wellness exams and, although they have had CRF (the 18 year old was diagnosed 5 years ago), they passed with flying colours and CRF is stable.

I gave them some Wellness CORE this past week, mixed with their Orijen kibble, and they picked out the Orijen and left the Wellness.

They have also been spotted stealing the occasional Orijen kibble from the dog's dish.

rosella Hopefully, Clark will post at Cat World also. He has dialogued with us on Itchmoforums in the past, during the pet food recall. Thanks for joining us. You have a direct line to Champion Pet Foods here.

80 cats affected with paralysis and who knows how many others before this surfaced. That is a distressing number. One is too many. With some of the recommended regimens (Dr. Child indicated that a change in diet is key), we pray that these cats can recover.

How about a national Buy Nothing Day instead of this madness?

Both of those stories make me ill. The visual on tonight's news that accompanied the Wal*Mart story showed lines of people with their shopping carts stuffed to the gills with cr*p. Is a human life not worth the $100 saved on some LCD TV?

Hello Clark! I'm glad to hear that you're working closely with the Australians to figure this out, and hopefully you will soon be able to zero in on something that everyone agrees on.

I have to say that this really raises questions about what we don't know about irradiation in general...

Here's the picture. Bless the US soldiers and folks from Operation Baghdad Pups who are getting some small percentage of the dogs out.

I have to credit the Champion PF guys for offering suggestions for treatments and exercise to help with sick animals. Glad also that some of the 27 cats have recovered. Seeing all those signatures on the press release tells me they were plenty more worried than anyone at Menu "Horrible coincidence" Foods ever was.

Exactly. And doesn't it make you want to insist on -- no, scream for -- labelling on all foodstuffs re: irradiation and GMO?

Well, my kibblers will continue to get their Orijen kibble...

Champion will no longer be selling pet food in Australia. They cited instances where cats may eat the dog food as well, so that is being discontinued.

Apologies if this has been posted already. There is a link on the Champion PF site, with a letter from Peter:

He references a Vet Pathology article about irradiation:

Ugh, this is not good news.

Both of my cats have been eating Orijen kibble since it arrived on the Canadian market. The 18 year old just had his annual vet checkup and he came through with flying colours, other than the CRF that he's had for five years and old age. His back legs do wobble on occasion; he has lost a lot of muscle mass there over the years, but he jumps and moves well. The 12 year old just had her annual blood and urine work done yesterday, so we will see. Her physical exam went well.

This does not make me happy, though, and I believe we may be picking up Core, although that's Wellness, which is done by Menu Foods.

That is very good  news. I noticed that they were adopting out military dogs. What a huge positive change from the Vietnam days.
