With summer here I decided to join NETFLIX, because of lack of programing on TV.
It is great they have everything you can imagine. I decided to do some oldies, tonight my friend and I watch Play Misty For Me, with Clint Eastwood it was so good.
Some of the others on my list to watch are:
Mildred Pierce The Greatest Show on Earth Vertigo The Nanny Cape Fear (original) All About Eve To Kill A Mockingbird Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf? Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte Casablanca The Omega Man Shampoo
just wonder if anyone had opinions on any of these or suggestions of ones they really enjoyed.
Some of my all-time faves are on your list - Midred Pierce (great book too!), Cape Fear, To Kill a Mockingbird (another great book), Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte, All About Eve and The Omega Man (again, a great book - title is I Am Legend.) Audrey Hepburn is a fave - The Children's Hour, The Nun's Story, Sabrina, Wait Until Dark William Powell is wonderful - My Man Godfrey, Life with Father, Love Crazy Jack Lemmon - The Apartment, Days of Wine and Roses, The Odd Couple, Out of Towners, Some Like it Hot Bette Davis - Now Voyager, Mr. Skeffington, A Stolen Life, The Catered Affair, Dead Ringer Marty is a terrific movie. It won best oscar that year (55). Harold & Maude is one of my very favourite flix. So many great movies!!!! ENJOY!!!!

The only thing She said about the average joe, is to pay off your morgage and credit cards. don't use any more cards. and then she said the middle class does not exist anymore. the poor get poorer, the ritch get ritcher, and we don't exist anymore. she said there is no more middle class. And she does know what's she's talking about.
I definitely agree about the middle class disappearing. It's been happening for years as more Americans lose their homes, their businesses, their jobs, their way of life. I try to look for the positives, the light at the end of the tunnel, but I really don't see any. The only thing I think we can do is to simplify our modern lifestyles - as I have mentioned in other posts on this board - grow more of our own food, cut back on things we don't need, conserve more. I've cut back on everything. I used to do a lot of shopping - now I don't buy something unless we really need it.

People who start rumors are the scum of the earth and they get their kicks from upsetting decent people. They never come forward to take credit for their slander/libel but hide in the shadows ready to do more harm.
Offy, don't pay attention to any of those creeps and just keep doing your thing!!!!!!!!!!

General Pet Information / Pet News / Re: Oprah covering puppy mills on April 4th

Trudy, I confess I didn't watch the first one. I taped it and both my husband and I were afraid to watch. Maybe I'll try today. I certainly am opposed to them and hope people get educated about not buying from their outlets. The retail outlets they supply foster many impulse purchases. And I guess some mills trick people into thinking they are responsible breeders with those false front operations. That is as bad as it gets.
I can't watch shows like that because they upset me so much but I'm glad Oprah did it because it raised awareness on this horrible subject. I read an article that said puppy mill laws in PA are getting tougher so these horrible places are setting up shop in rural areas of NY (where I live) because our laws are more accepting. It's an atrocity. Unfortunately, with so many pressing issues like our toilet bowl economy, animals issues are not that important to local govt.

I believe it's going to keep going up. i have a friend who thinks it will go down soon? What do you all think?
I don't think it will go down. My friend who drives for a trucking company predicts gas where we live in upstate NY will be $5.25/g by 4th of July.

I like Suzie Orman. She makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately, I agree with what she says about the economy and gas prices. Also, unfortunately, with the rising prices we deal with each day, it's very hard to save any money.
Did she have any advice on what the "average joe" should be doing?
