Thanks everybody. As bad as it sounds I didn't want to leave the house this morning.. was in tears. I am scared there and scared to not be there. Worries me more not being there..
The sad part is they don't care if you're worse off than them or not. If they want it, they take it.. for drugs, for gas, for ranking in a gang, and worse yet- cuz they're bored and cuz they can.
The fingerprint officer said that when somebody knocks or rings bell ask who is there and make sure you can dial 911. They're crashing into houses apparently when nobody answers. . I have to get a sounder installed & one to flash lights so that I know somebody is at the door or someone is breaking in. The response time makes a burglar alarm worthless. Heck, I cannot even hear mine go off and need to get an interior sounder. Maybe word will get out that there's nothing in my house. I know if I replace the computer that I cannot put the box out for trash. I have to break it down & take it to work to the dumpster.
This simply isn't anyway for anybody to live. I've had a .38 revolver before and think maybe a shot gun might be better with my lousy aim...

Pet Food Info (Menu Foods, Iams, Purina, Hills, Ol'Roy, etc.) / Pet Food Testing / Re: EWG dog food testing reveals dangerous levels of fluoride!

I think EWG already had fluoride on their radar screens for levels in foods and this would further their research in that direction too. It's been at issue before and accumulates in bones... I wonder if that's behind the bone meal caution... http://www.leaflady.org/pethealth.htmFluoride for pets is a hidden poison - Fluoride for pets is a hidden poison - Fluoride levels in pet food are, according to Richard Pitcairn, DVM, surprisingly high. As far back as 1971, a study at the University of Montana found the average measure of fluoride in leading pet foods to be 11 to 193 ppm, with the highest found in canned pet food. If your dog weighs 100 pounds this translates to a daily consumption of 21 to 368 milligrams of fluoride from commercial food. The government upper daily limit of 2.5 milligrams of fluoride is said to be safe for children over three years of age. The Montana researchers found that fluoride accumulates in pet's bones. 84 to 1535 milligrams of fluoride was found in dog's leg bones. 74 to 1,190 milligrams was found in the bones of cats, and it increased with age.
According to Pitcairn, it is clearly recognized that long term fluoride intake damages human bones and soft tissue, it is not unlikely that fluoride accumulation is one factor contributing to the increase in bone problems found in pets.

There had to be guardian angels looking after the cats!
They'd usually have snooped and went out the door. They always try. I guess they could tell that's where all the noise came from and something bad was out there. I had awful images in my head going in the open door I was so afraid the hateful human monsters had hurt them.
But, for sure, I'll never forget the look on Ling's face....and how she scooted to me soooo fast!

Just wanted to pop in quickly and hope that nobody got any weird emails and no posts from a stranger on my id cos I didn't log out of my puter Wed am.
I got home early Wednesday around 5pm noted by utility room door open some and then saw my back door standing open, the burglar door & frame swinging freely. Sigh. I panicked and started calling my cats and looking around outside.
I ran inside and only saw 4 cats, they were skittish and couldn't find Ling. Like a maniac I ran around the house and outside. Finally looked under the bed and there was Ling hiding in the sheets that had been pulled down when they flipped the mattress. She was so terrified. When she saw me and my hand she flew to me for cuddling & then I cried as all of them were now huddled around me.
Then, I called the cops. Seems only my computer system was stolen, the rest of the house only plundered. I got hold of the internet to change my password and a friend to change another account. Sigh. My backdoor is screwed shut finally on Friday after finding someone who was working after the holiday. I slept 2 nights with both hearing aids on in the den holding a pen knife LOL. The house next door had had the copper wiring taken off the furnace & a/c a couple of days before. sigh. I guess they know my schedule...
What the hey. As much as I hate losing the puter and the pictures I cannot replace.. nothing every looked so good at 5 cats sitting in a clump in the halldoor watching me and the police. The policeman loves cats and they knew it. when we went toward them they scattered & Dollywad & Diva followed us and made sure he petted them. Ling rather have her mommie and Scooter & MK just watched from a safe corner.
I have to say I've really missed you all and will be piddling until things get replaced... I hope nobody used my id too and bothered you all here or in email..

"discuss strategies to deal with the outcome of the regulator’s disclosure about melamine traces in infant formula and nutritional and medical supplements"
Right, we thought that's what you all had already done - tried to bury it... now deal with the outcome? How about how to stop melamine & cyanuric acid getting into foods in the United States...
Any person with a heart and soul wouldn't be looking at how to deal with the outcome of the disclosure.. they'd be finding a solution to the problem, and a way to prevent adulterants like melamine, cyanuric acid & NPNs in INFANT & BABY food PERIOD.

Per Sundloff: " it's also contained in a cleaning solution used on some food processing equipment and can leach into the products being prepared."
Right, leach? Just how much of that cleaning solution does it take to contaminate the whole batch? A puddle, a jug, What??? How Much???
Sounds like a bad joke or nightmare - or, or for those at the FDA it's their brand of "politically correct" deception tactics.

"In a written response to questions, a Nestle spokesman denied that any of the company's products contained cyanuric acid, and said its products are safe.
Nestle's products need to be boycotted. I knew they'd do that kind of media...
sickens me....
"Three tests of Nestle's Good Start Supreme Infant Formula with Iron detected an average of 0.247 parts per million of cyanuric acid, a melamine byproduct."
This is exactly the same kind pr spin that Nestle used during the China milk scandal.

AND CYANURIC ACID!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*!&#*$*()$ right, tell them to go ahead and feed it to the babies!!
I am soooooo friggin angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Previously undisclosed tests, obtained by The Associated Press under the Freedom of Information Act, show that the FDA has detected melamine in a sample of one popular formula and the presence of cyanuric acid, a chemical relative of melamine, in the formula of a second manufacturer.
Separately, a third major formula maker told AP that in-house tests had detected trace levels of melamine in its infant formula.
The three firms — Abbott Laboratories, Nestle and Mead Johnson — manufacture more than 90 percent of all infant formula produced in the United States.
The FDA and other experts said the melamine contamination in U.S.-made formula had occurred during the manufacturing process, rather than intentionally."
You know what angers me most? Nestle will say it isn't in theirs just like they did in China. Just like others do when it's in the "safe" level or spiking. Dilution theories and risk assessments be damned.. tell the people you're feeding them and encouraging them to consume products that jeopardize your health.. cos that one time it was low.. what about the next time? We know from the recalls and China that there is NOT an EVEN distribution thru the products. It varied from can/batch to can/batch... Right, tell them to feed the babies.. where's the press being angry? Where's the tell the MF's NO!!!!!!

I think US Consumers (other than the Thousands of Pet Owners from the 2007 scandal) are being introduced to "cross contamination" in a manner of phrasing that they have not encountered nor considered and it most likely wouldn't register with them what Sudloff means or isn't straight out telling them...
"melamine detected was at "extremely low levels" and likely was the result of contact with melamine during the processing"
Which Sundloff very skillfully buried the meaning/implications of in that sentence.
Hello, just how is melamine found during the PROCESSING of "nutritional supplements and medical supplements, all made by the five U.S. manufacturers of infant formula" which could cross-contaminate them? What ingredient has a high enough level of melamine in it to be diluted during processing to "trace"? Sigh, we've worn that road out and here we are on it again...
Another dilution theory peeking out from under the rug? Because, the amount from packaging contact does not remotely come close to the 2.5ppm the Feds feeding us melamine have determined is "safe".

They'd indicated these would be tested before: http://itchmoforums.com/pet-food-testing/ewg-survey-t5041.0.html;msg66858#msg66858"Luckily I have over 2,300 responses to my pet food survey (thanks, guys!), so I know that we should be testing Iams, Wellness, Hill's Science Diet, Innova, Royal Canin, Pedigree, Purina ONE, and more. But EWG researchers asked me a question I couldn't answer:" http://www.petsfortheenvironment.org/blog/2008/06/02/were_gonna_test_us_some_pet_food"Anyway, it looks like we'll be testing Iams, Wellness, Hill's Science Diet, Innova, Royal Canin, Pedigree, Purina ONE, and more.

How long has Orijen been shipped to Australia and irradiated?
I think I've missed any reference to that... The delayed onset is problematic.
If it's been shipped before, did any cases miss attention or did it not cause these issues?
If it's been supplied there for extended period of time without any notice of issues, what changed in: a)forumula b)packaging c)shipping method d) storage of product e)processing the shipment in Australia f)storage & shipment after processing/irradiation?

I'm also not real happy with Dollywad making MK such an outsider and Scooter is becoming more of a bully to MK since Dollywad has been successful in that role Sigh. Dolly is so sweet you'd find it hard to imagine her hissy-ness until you saw or heard it. She gets the gist of the squirt bottle and so does Scooter- so it's mostly pointing. Maybe they'll get a grip soon ... 1/2 hour after using the vac on Saturday there are tufts in the hallway from the spats (DollyWad with either MK/Scooter)... they're smart... they've figured out: No mommie No squirtie. Mommie retaliated and put catnip in one cat bed and in one cat chair.. Figured it'd be a mad house or stoned.. Turns out it was stoned.. at least for Dollywad MK actually tolerated the WickedWad and the WickedWad didn't hiss, lunge, scream & strike after several hours of respite courtesy of The Wad being stoned Ling thinks we have all lost our minds - and she would be right The Diva is a Doll 24/7. I especially enjoyed seeing a mouse in the toilet. Sigh, I guess the Diva figured it was potty time She plays nice, eats with the gang without being obnoxious, and gets her lap time in the morning and evening. Not even the same cat I used to visit at the shelter. One thing I do that irks her... I think she's got a booger on her nose and it's a little black dot She's going to buy me new glasses so I'll quit trying to wipe it.
