This is indeed scary news on Halloween. Especially with all the care they have taken in the past with their "Special Kitty" brand. Like JustMe points out, the majority of people don't have a clue about pet food and will buy it where ever it's convenient and cheap.

I just now saw this. What awful news. I'm very glad that Trudy and family and animals are all OK but shocked to hear about the loss of her home. Please let Trudy and family know that I am thinking of them.

That is where I get the mixed messages from the other 95%/100% meat products that are not a complete diet and suggest rotations.
The difference seems to be in "Broth". Is this a case where they buy "broth" which contains the premix nutrients and they don't have to list the ingredients in that?
Newmans FAQ says "Q. Are these foods 100% Complete and Balanced? A. Yes, the foods are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) and contain the micro- and macro-nutrients needed for pet health and vitality."
But, their label shows the meat, the meat broth and minerals.
Does the SOrganic show mineral ingredients on the label?
No mineral ingredients on the label. Just the meat, broth and I think the guaranteed analysis may have been on the label also. The analysis is available in the link from my post above.

Canned Newman's Own has been part of our rotation for several months. My cats eat the formulas without vegetables, chicken & brown rice, turkey, chicken and salmon. They like it fine but it is definitely not their favorite food. I can only feed it to them about once or twice a week because they seem to get tired of it. They went through a period where they refused it completely, but that seems to be over now. No problems other than the period of refusal.
