I Googled it & got quite a few hits.  Just grabbed one link to show you......this stuff looks interesting:

Here's another page I had bookmarked that might help.  It's for humans but it still gives you an idea of what foods are high in calcium:

I bookmarked this a long time ago but handy to have:

If I remember correctly, my 55 lb dog converts to 25 kg.......I bet if you enter your dog's weight into Google (25 lbs = ? kg), you'll get a conversion.

I'd like to know why we've heard next to nothing about the dog food.  If cats are more sensitive to whatever this is, does this mean it will just take longer to start striking down dogs?  Not a very pleasant thought.  It appears that nobody learned anything from the recall last year......unless there is an ingredient in the cat food that is not in the dog food, I believe it's just a matter of time for dogs.

My assumption is that they are also irradiating the dog food......in which case, there's a good possibility that there's something wrong with that too.  I sure hope somebody is looking into that.

Just strikes me odd that it's only the cat food. Huh  Sure hope this is not a "wait & see" if it starts to affect dogs & then take action.  Even worse is if it's an ingredient & has nothing to do with irradiation......what about the dry food here or in Canada?

I think it's time for a drink......oops, it's only 7am........ Tongue

catbird......you beat me to the punch here.  As I was reading along, I started thinking about the chicken jerky & how many people were thinking the new irradiation process on the jerky was what was causing problems.

If anyone ever wants to test a new batch against an old, I still have an old pkg in the freezer that was before irradiation.  At least I think I still have it.  Would be interesting to see what would come of that.

I want to see what they say on Wed.

Aren't they irradiating produce here?  Seems I heard something about that.  Not that we have a choice......& probably are not being told about the numerous other food products that are undergoing the same process.

I sent out another of my infamous mass emails to all my buds w/little furry ones.  Some of them feed the dog food, not sure if any of them feed the cat food.  I'll leave it up to them to decide what to do.

My very own personal opinion (if anyone cares Shocked) is to err on the side of caution as I believe someone else mentioned.  If I had Hannah on Orijen right now, she would be off it for now.

During the recalls, I pulled her off a ton of food that was not recalled but something else within the company's line had been recalled.  You can well imagine how many dry foods I had to pull her off......lots!  I'd rather be safe (or too safe) than sorry. Tongue

I lived there for about two years until I made my decision to leave the East Coast & move out to CA.

It was a beautiful old house & this ghost or whatever it was never did a thing to threaten me or my buddy downstairs.......it was primarily silly stuff.  However, there were a couple of incidents that really scared both of us.......like an old, discarded Mattell (sp?) doll that was left in the attic.  I'm not sure I want to post a lot of this stuff publicly so if anyone wants to hear about the doll, PM me & I'll finish the story.  I'm really not some nut case & I certainly don't want to post something that would scare anyone or make them uncomfortable.  I probably should've started this post a month ago, huh?

So many things happened in that house in those two years that nobody would come to see me......all my friends were scared to death to come into the house.  I lived there & it never bothered me.  Now if I had ever been threatened or actually saw something, I probably would've been out the door in a flash.  There were things happening more than anything........almost like what a poltergeist would do.

Just as a point of interest:  when I moved out, it all stopped.  Now I don't have a clue what that means but it's all true.  My friend still lives downstairs in that house & she said once in a while something strange will happen but nothing like when I was living there.  She keeps asking me to move back, that she hasn't had that much excitement in her life since!!! Grin  Guess I awoke something when I moved in there...... Grin

Cats react to ghosts too!

Many years ago I lived in an old (haunted) house.  I could tell you stories to make your hair stand on end but I would be typing for a very long time.  Trust me when I tell you, there was a VERY active ghost in this house (who, by the way, became active after I moved in.......the girl who owned the house lived downstairs & nothing had ever happened until I moved in).

Anyway, I had two Siamese cats at that time & we lived on the second floor just below the attic.  Most of the happenings were in the attic although a few things did happen in other parts of the house, mostly in my place.

I'd be on the couch (which backed against the wall where the stairs to the attic were), I'd be watching TV, the cats would be sound asleep beside me......all of a sudden the two of them would jump up with the hair on their backs standing straight up & stare at that wall.  Ask me if that freaked me out.......ah, yes. Shocked

Animals do see/hear/sense a lot more than we do.  Try living in a haunted house & you'll see what I mean. Cheesy

Possible pet food tampering in Guelph
Southwestern Ontario TV November 21, 2008

Possible pet food tampering at a Guelph store and police are involved.

A mysterious liquid was found at a TSC Store this morning ... a syringe containing an unknown fluid was located in between bags of dog food, in the pet food aisle of TSC store at 545 Silver Creek Parkway North.

The syringe was near 16 kg bags of Purina Beneful brand dog food.

All product on the shelf has been removed.

Something else for us to worry about! Angry

Thanks, 3cat......that's really nice of you to say that.

I appreciate your "rants" & all the info you post.

So Happy Thanksgiving back at you......& to all the members of this forum.  I also thank you for all you have done to educate me & to help me keep my Hannah alive & kicking.

You not only have helped me but I pass info on to my friends, many who were feeding pet food that was recalled & never went public.  So I guess this would be the time for me to thank all of you from all of them.  Lots of pets are alive & well thanks to this forum & all the great people here. Kiss

Have a wonderful holiday......

Thanks for info, petslave.  I didn't want to take cookies back but I would if I had to.

The "chocolate" chip cookies I got for Hannah I do believe are from Three Dog.  I haven't opened them yet but I can guess that Hannah will love them.  I haven't found anything yet that she doesn't like.  Take that back:  she spits out lettuce.  But that's the only thing.

When I have to give her Pepto Bismol, I use one of those plungers......vet said to hold her head up so she won't spit it out.  Spit it out?  She slops it around in her mouth & savors it.......a dog who likes Pepto?  True story. Grin

I agree, JJ:  GMAFB..... Angry

Let me guess how they plan on doing their inspections:  a month before they are going to inspect a plant, they will notify the people who run that plant.  So by the time they get there, it is sparkly clean with the best ingredients money can buy with testing in place for everything......OR it's been bulldozed.

Then they can report back:  all the plants are clean with pure ingredients & are testing everything before it leaves & all the bad plants are gone.

Oh my, what would we ever do without our beloved FDA! Huh

I want more info too.  I just bought Hannah some "chocolate" chip cookies made with carob.  They actually looked yummy & had good ingredients too.  If something in them isn't good for her, I'll bring them back & get another flavor.

I swear, it's getting more & more to where either you make it yourself or you can't trust what's in it.  Damn! Angry

One can only hope that their sales are down.  Another thought I had was that they have found the source of the salmonella in more than one plant & it's too expensive to be fixed (we can't spend any of our profits, now can we?).

Isn't Victorville the plant with the wicked smell?  I thought I heard something about this plant closing but I could be getting confused.

I always wondered why they bought out Nutro.......that never made much sense to me, especially with all the bad press they've been getting. Huh
