1  The 2007 Pet Food Recalls / Pet Food Recall Memorial / Dylan on: January 28, 2008, 11:51:16 AM
Dylan
DOB: 09/22/96 Aprox. 11 years old
February 23, 2007, euthanized

We adopted Dylan on April 4, 2000, from an animal shelter.  He was there for 4 months.  The history provided stated he needed to be an only pet, not good with children.  Knowing this and Dylan having been in a cage for four months, we knew we had to adopt him.  We brought him home, opened the carrier, and he walked right out, purring, as though he knew he was in a loving home.    Four months later, the shelter from where we adopted Dylan burned, many animals were killed.

Dylan was very affectionate and followed us throughout our home, greeted us at the door, relaxed with us at night.  We were so sure we took great care of him.  Unfortunately those people who we trusted to make pet food only cared about cutting costs and  greed for money.  Because of their negligence in preparation of pet food and their food we provided Dylan, Dylan  suddenly became ill with acute renal failure We were given no choice, he could not survive.  Dylan was euthanized.

Dylan was not property, he was not  a possession.  Possessions and property do not have a beating heart, do  not walk, do  not greet you at the door, do not have eyes to see you, do  not express excitement with purrs, barks, wags of tails, brush its tail against your body, lick one’s face with happiness, sit next to you with contentment.  Pets are alive!  Yes, they are our children.

Dylan, Little one, we miss you very much.
2  Pet Food Info (Menu Foods, Iams, Purina, Hills, Ol'Roy, etc.) / News (Recall Related) / Parade Magazine, Sunday Dec. 30, Best & Worst, What Made 2007 Memorable on: January 27, 2008, 09:52:43 AM
In Parade Magazine there was an article entitled" Best & Worst, What
Made 2007 Memorable. There were a few short articles on different
events, the war, stem-cell breakthrough, etc., and one was Toxic Toys
with China mentioned in the article. But NOT ONE WORD mentioned about
the "hundreds" of pets lost due to the tainted pet food. (Hmmm...wonder why) It angered me. Anyone see that.

I did send Parade an e-mail regarding this. I didn't expect a reply, but wanted to "voice" my opinion on this article.
3  The 2007 Pet Food Recalls / Pet Food Recall Memorial / Re: Read First Prior to Posting! on: January 27, 2008, 09:03:02 AM
Sorry, I am confused.  Where do I post about my pet.  He was euthanized due to the pet food, acute renal failure.

BTW, great job, thanks for your time
4  Pet Food Info (Menu Foods, Iams, Purina, Hills, Ol'Roy, etc.) / News (Recall Related) / Re: Pet Food: A Dog's Breakfast on: January 27, 2008, 08:43:52 AM
I also wish I could have seen the documentary.  I lost my kitty due to this "poisoned" food.  He was euthanized one week before the explosive news.  I doubt that the US is going to air this.  When all this was going on, there was very little news reported, and it was always 10 animals.  The media does not want to touch this story because all their sponsors, many corporations, are involved in some way in the pet food industry I, like many others, are disgusted and sickened by this whole thing.
5  General Pet Information / Misc/Other Pet Discussions / Re: How Did You Find Itchmo? on: January 23, 2008, 06:22:13 PM
Yes, due to the "poisoned pet food" tragedy and exhaustive research of pet food is how I found this.  First menufoods classaction, then links to the petconnection.    My Angel's anniversary is 2/23/2008 Sad  Thousands of pet parents are now reliving last year's tragedy. And to mention this tragedy is STILL silenced by media, press, and gov.
6  Pet Behavior and Health Questions / Veterinary and Medications / Re: Anyone dealt with trilostane??? on: January 23, 2008, 06:08:02 PM
Our 11-year-old dog has been on trilostane now for almost 2 years.  She is doing good.  She is on 20 mg a day.  Originally vet wanted to start at 30 mg, but I did some searching on the Cushings' web, it is better to start out at a lower dose, then increase.  So we made that decision with our vet.  Of course this is "our dog"  and with discussing with our vet.   Yes, the Cushings forum is a great resource.  (Our dog has Cushings, diabetes, and now cataracts.)
