What a nasty thing to do to someone. I'm glad that no one was there, but so sorry that these people felt that had the right to violate your business and destroy your property. You can come here to share your feelings any and all times. I don't know how some people can look themselves in the mirror ~ I hope that you will be able to recover from this crime.

Darn it anyway!!!  Angry Angry Angry

I hope you can have some semblence of Thanksgiving, although it's probably the furthest thing from your mind right now.

What we don't know is killing us . . . thanks for the information. Guess that just strengthens the concept of eating locally, fresh and organic. This is one time I am so relieved that I don't eat meat or fish at all! One less thing to worry about.

For all of you who have been doing such a fantastic job of research and sharing ~ THANKS!

Hope everyone has a safe, relaxing Thanksgiving.

33  Pet Behavior and Health Questions / Help With My Sick Pet / Re: Kittens with Giardia infection on: November 27, 2008, 04:58:16 AM
Seems like you answered your own question ~ sometimes ya gotta go with what's working. We've not had diarrhea with the kittens since I switched them off of Wellness Kitten kibble. And they are eating a lot of the adult kibble (both Wellness Indoor Health and Low Residue). I'm done fighting battles I don't need to fight.   Wink

Not sure about the nutritional piece, but these boys will eat most everything! Right now they've honed in on CJ's Low Residue, in addition to the Wellness the big cats eat. They will eat the kitten kibble at night (only because they are shut in and can't get to the other food). And they will eat most anything else that happens to be on the floor . . .  Grin

Carol, it warms my heart to hear about your mom. I'm sure she is watching over all of our angels now.

This brings tears to my eyes. I'm sure that my wee little Sampson and Dexter Louise and Taffy and Tuffy . . . and all my angel cats are with them, too. What a glorious reunion it will be.

Carol, I am not at all surprised at the way we found out. This is their SOP and have been anything but open and honest about anything. It's only when they are found out that they say anything.

Someone has to do some serious housecleaning at the FDA and USDA. Far as I'm concerned, throw all the bums out and start from scratch with people who REALLY are concerned about our health and safety.

To me, the most frustrating part is that they keep doing what they do and people fuss and fume, but it doesn't change a thing. WE NEED SOME ACTION HERE!!

CJ and Jess have had issues for a long time, but it seems to intensify after she's been sick and hospitalized. It's almost like he thought she was gone for good and then she shows up again. I always separate any of them after a vet appointment, etc so it's not the smells that bother them. I will look for the alcohol free rescue remedy at the health food store where I got the one with alcohol. Actually when I rub some of that on Jess's ear, it seems to settle him a bit.

Actually Jess isn't bad with the kittens unless they don't respect his space. Yesterday I watched him use his paw to lay one of them down on his bed (the kitten was crawling on top of him) and then he laid down right next to him. (The nice thing is that I will know which black kitten I'm dealing with when there is only one ~ now I have to look carefully or even check bellies for white patches . . .)

I agree that Teddy will probably be fine in his room. Other than the room where they were born, it's been his room for his entire life so he will survive. Teddy is the one who was close to Annie, then Marnie ~ he's much less rambunctious than the other boys ~ and often will come to me just to be held. I will leave his room the same so it's not another change for him. (Actually it's the room Rascal claimed so she's a little annoyed that she can't get in there at night.

Right now I'm more concerned with CJ and Jess. I think that once there aren't three kittens charging around at the same time that the big cats will relax some.

Thanks for your ideas and experiences. Guess this is just normal for a multi-cat household. If anyone thinks of anything else . . . let me know.

3cat, I cannot imagine what you must be feeling now. I think everyone has given good ideas. There must be other foods that the wee one can have instead of the Nestle product. Surely his doctors will do some research and find something safe.

Blessings and prayers for Hunter, his worried family and all the others who have been/are/may be affected by this terrible situation.

I hope the people responsible are aware of the pain and misery they are inflicting on others.

Thanks, Ned for sharing your research results with us. I've bookmarked the first one and will have to look over their products. I'm done with MIC as much as I can be.

42  Pet Behavior and Health Questions / Pet Behavior & Training / okay ~ need your advice again on: November 25, 2008, 06:58:54 PM
Just doing some thinking about the changes that will be happening here and need some help with existing behavior problems and some new ones (maybe).

Jess is giving CJ a bad time. As long as she stays in the bedroom he sits where he can see her and just glares at her. If she tries to leave he will go after her, either stalking or if she growls or hisses at him, he will attack her. We've had this before but not with the complication of kittens. The cardiologist does NOT want Jess on any medication because of his heart disease and the meds he's already on. He continues to be confined at night because he has attacked Gracie and now I don't trust him with CJ.

Problem 2 ~ When Bubba and Petey leave on Friday, Teddy will be alone for the first time ever. Right now they stay in a bedroom, but I'm wondering how Teddy is going to handle being an only. Everyone but Jess (and the kittens) have the run of the house at night. We've had a bit of hissing (CJ at Gracie) but nothing serious. What to do with Teddy? If he's loose with the girls, I'm pretty sure that he'll end up on the bed with us and I'm thinking Cassie and CJ will not be happy about that. If he's alone in his room, I'm afraid he's going to cry (although he might not because he's used to it).

So . . . any behavior experts out there (or just people who have lived through this or are living through this) who have some ideas, words of wisdom, advice, etc for our transitions? Anything you might share is appreciated.
